Us the fans

Just a frustrating day all round yesterday,i was convinced we we're going to make the breakthrough, and when Micah hit the bar with that header, you could just feel everyone around cursing our luck, for them to score off a breakaway, more or less the same as they did the season before, although it was a penalty then, after us dominating the game, was a very bitter pill to swallow.

We we're all gutted after the Chelsea game, and the players responded with a great performance against Arsenal,I'm expecting more of the same Tomorrow.

Today following our defeat I had a very interesting conversation with a United fan, first of all it was the usual wind up shit of your going to lose again, watch united go and you haven't got the balls for the top of the table.

Then he said something that took me by surprise.

''City won’t win the league not because of the players or the manager but because of the fans''

The reason he said what he said was because he and other reds who he talks with believe that the people who follow city love nothing more than nurturing misery, in fact we enjoy nothing more than moaning about players, the way we had played and basically we revel in it and that the players will pick up this if our home form dips.

We then chewed the fat and argued our points of view, after that I just dispelled it as nothing more than the fear factor hitting home but then I started to think about it.

Now I sit in block 304 and there are several folk around me that love nothing more than to moan about Dzeko and Yaya in fact they wait for their first mistake and they are on their soap boxes shouting the odds.

Today blue moon is in meltdown some fans have said players are wank, are not fit to wear the shirt and the manager keeps making mistakes yet we are top of the league so why are we really moaning. (19 games 45 points and 53 goals)

I have just watched MOD2 and how we did not win is still a mystery but as someone said earlier it is pantomime season.

So are we really fans who just like to moan who love nothing more than a half empty glass, who don’t really want success or are we going to get behind the team.

If Dzeko was at any other club in the premiership he would be banging the goals in and the transfer forum would be alight with we should buy him, now this isn’t about Dzeko it’s about us as fans. We manage to single out players and berate them to a point where we kill them off (edgehill) went from England prospect to nervous wreck.

Let’s not wreck our season let’s get behind them, slag players off when they are gone, not wearing the shirt. They maybe reading Bluemoon

We are all just human beings who deal with things in our own way, the world is a mixture of optimists and pessimists and football fans are no different, we are all blue though and I agree that we should all take a chill pill and get behind the team, I really want to win the league this year but even if we don't I'm still relaxed about it because our fabulous owners are here for the long term and don't do second, so if we don't win it this year we will win soon and over and over again, also applies to the CL and others too imho.

i watched the match & whilst driving back to my girlfriends house had GMR aftermatch phone in on. Either some of the texts sent in were from rags on the wind up or there are some idiotic people out there. Comments such as sack the manager, get rid of some of the players etc.I couldnt believe what i was hearing. Also where we sit in the ground there are people who sit close by, all they seem to do is slag Balo off, asked them why, they said they just dont like him. I said like him or not, when he has a city shirt on and is on the pitch then support is due, not negative comments. Disect after the match.

The rag is right. We get on the back of a player who isn't playing as well as we think they should be and mercilessly savage them. They do it too - but we do it to the Nth degree - far worse than any other set of fans I know. We form a hanging posse and go after the player with a vengeance. We see them at the game - on a players back as soon as something goes wrong. They are only happy if they have something to whine about. "Oy xxxx you F*cking this, F*cking that" at the top of their voices.

Going back over our history it's normally a full back. At the moment it's Dzeko. If he's not about then YaYa or the left full back gets it in the neck. A year or so ago it was Richards.

Dzeko is a confidence player who's best game is to run down the channels take a ball two or three touches and bang - one in two times the ball is in the back of the net. Dzeko really isn't suited to pass-pass-pass-pass only football. Last season he worked his socks off working the channels but no one passed to him - He didn't score manay as people thought he should. At the start of this season we did pass down the channels and Dzeko scored a hat full. Now we have completely stopped passing down the channels and surprisingly we are shocked at how his goals have dried up. Being City fans we get on his back rather than look as the real cause - the ONE DIMENSIONAL attacking football that we have been playing for quite a while now.

The very same one dimensional football that has us unbeaten at home for a year..??

Can you not see the way we are playing at the moment?
We are certainly NOT playing as we were in August, September and October.

We used to (approximately 1 in 3.5) attacks slide the ball down a channel for Dzeko, Aguero, Silva & Nasri to run onto. At the moment this has dropped to about 1 in 10. The pass is now always the preferred option. Frankly a don't know why Aguero and Dzeko even bother working the channels at the moment. They get into space but the ball is rarely delivered.

We used to have surging runs through the centre (Ya Ya, Barry, Richards) now the pass is always the preferred option.

We used to shoot quite a lot from 20-30 yards. We don't do that anything like what we used to.

The tempo of our pass-pass-pass game is insufficient away from home too. We only reached the required tempo against WBA and Sunderland after 70 mins.

I will keep banging on about it till it changes, but pass-pass-pass-pass is the only option at the moment. And it allows teams to park the bus and only worry about defending the space in front of them. At home it still works because they get ground down but away the crowd gets behind them and keeps them going.

Now that teams have realised that the number one thing to do is to play deep with 2 lines of 4 and a free player doubling up on the flanks to reduce our chances of getting round the back (where about 50% of our goals have come from BTW) our game isn't good enough to win sufficient games away from home to win the league.

If Mancini mixes it up a bit more we will come good again. If he doesn't our League championship challenge is over.

I agree with this in principle. In recent weeks there has been a slowing of our game, it's less incisive. I think it's just our 'blip', in a few weeks we'll be back to our best. We just have to make sure we get over it this month. In terms of the title race January is hugely important.

Hate to agree with a red bastard but he is spot on, we seem to be generally a glass half empty set of supporters whearas they are the opposite. I am afraid that i am no different , every away game when it is goal less or level my first thought is i will take a point here because after 30 plus years of watching us i expect it all to go tits up. Having said that i never have a go at individual players and i am very encouraging and the idea of booing someone or getting on their backs is an anathema to me. We i am pleased to say are nothing like that lot , they are loud, brash, obnoxious gobshites and i like to think we are a bit more clued up and reasonable and self depricating although the clowns who sing 'we score when we want' and the absolute dickheads who seemed to think the league was a formality and constantly writing off the 5 sides behind us are the exception to the rule.
