Us the fans

Hate to agree with a red bastard but he is spot on, we seem to be generally a glass half empty set of supporters whearas they are the opposite. I am afraid that i am no different , every away game when it is goal less or level my first thought is i will take a point here because after 30 plus years of watching us i expect it all to go tits up. Having said that i never have a go at individual players and i am very encouraging and the idea of booing someone or getting on their backs is an anathema to me. We i am pleased to say are nothing like that lot , they are loud, brash, obnoxious gobshites and i like to think we are a bit more clued up and reasonable and self depricating although the clowns who sing 'we score when we want' and the absolute dickheads who seemed to think the league was a formality and constantly writing off the 5 sides behind us are the exception to the rule.

You tend to find the fans who go to away games are real hardcore fans who do take the rough with the smooth on the day and therefore refuse to have a go at there own players. This is a general observation and not one directed at City Fans.

I see Fbloke as also touched on the point I raised regarding edgehills unjust treatment

Today following our defeat I had a very interesting conversation with a United fan, first of all it was the usual wind up shit of your going to lose again, watch united go and you haven't got the balls for the top of the table.

Then he said something that took me by surprise.

''City won’t win the league not because of the players or the manager but because of the fans''

The reason he said what he said was because he and other reds who he talks with believe that the people who follow city love nothing more than nurturing misery, in fact we enjoy nothing more than moaning about players, the way we had played and basically we revel in it and that the players will pick up this if our home form dips.

We then chewed the fat and argued our points of view, after that I just dispelled it as nothing more than the fear factor hitting home but then I started to think about it.

Now I sit in block 304 and there are several folk around me that love nothing more than to moan about Dzeko and Yaya in fact they wait for their first mistake and they are on their soap boxes shouting the odds.

Today blue moon is in meltdown some fans have said players are wank, are not fit to wear the shirt and the manager keeps making mistakes yet we are top of the league so why are we really moaning. (19 games 45 points and 53 goals)

I have just watched MOD2 and how we did not win is still a mystery but as someone said earlier it is pantomime season.

So are we really fans who just like to moan who love nothing more than a half empty glass, who don’t really want success or are we going to get behind the team.

If Dzeko was at any other club in the premiership he would be banging the goals in and the transfer forum would be alight with we should buy him, now this isn’t about Dzeko it’s about us as fans. We manage to single out players and berate them to a point where we kill them off (edgehill) went from England prospect to nervous wreck.

Let’s not wreck our season let’s get behind them, slag players off when they are gone, not wearing the shirt. They maybe reading Bluemoon

Great post and (not trying to trump you) but it is something I have been saying for years.

Much as I detest the rag b*stards and most of their fans - with the odd exceptions - I do find when you listen to them after a defeat even one as bad as the 6-1 they do come out with positive statements and demonstrate a belief in their team. Granted this is no doubt borne out of decades of success but we need to adopt the mentality.

There is no doubt that this is built into the mentality of the Rags. One of the reasons I love football and supporting City is that I genuinely believe that I can play my part in supporting the team and helping the players be the success I want them to be.

I heard first hand one guy at Sunderland who just would not stop moaning about Nasri, I was willing him to demonstrate his class so that I could throw it back in his face, much as I did at a number of the Ireland haters before he had his purple patch. And why for period did he look quality ? Because he finally got the support of the fans after his superman celebration - the only way was up for him from there. If our fans seriously think Nasri is no good then there really is no hope for us. Don't forget the big spending has been done now so all we can do is back the players we have. The squad will only evolve from here on in.

Of course, I'm not the one that can kick the ball into the net (but then neither is the manager but it doesn't stop him getting stick if things start going wrong) but I am one of the fans that can help to give confidence to the players and provide them with the platform to play at their best - I can play my small part. Its been said hundreds of times (by umpteen managers and players) but at home the fans really should be the 12th man and you should go to the game believing that you can help the players by cheering them on.

I firmly believe that we have the best squad in the premiership, the only thing that can hold us back is if the negativity of the media and the fans percolates through to the players if we happen to have a few bad results and confidence starts to go. A lack of confidence can make great players look poor.

I hope we can turn it around tomorrow so that the moaners and groaners can't begin to get some momentum as that will significantly harm our chances but if we do the best thing we the fans can do is keep the faith and keep supporting the players.

I also agree we have the best squad in the premiership and whilst I don't think Nasri has been the player he was at Arsenal last year his assist rate this year isn't bad, but some fans what instant Lionel Messi's when they join City.

''the only thing that can hold us back is if the negativity of the media and the fans percolates through to the players if we happen to have a few bad results and confidence starts to go.''

That's what my mate meant and only we as supporters can help to avoid this by lifting and supporting the team in hard times not getting back on our usual soap boxes.

Exactly, whatever happens tonight (and I hope it's a City win) we should keep the faith and back the boys to come good again.
