USA to host La Liga games

I've been a City fan since before the take over, from the time I spent overseas. For whatever that's worth. But City's ability to compete at the highest level moving forward is pretty dependent on expanding the fan base, especially in emerging football markets like the US. So maybe cut us a break.
No it’s not. We make $700 million per year and the PL has no need to play games in the States. You also forget that as any games over there would have the fees split across the league, as such, there’d be no benefit for City against other PL teams.

One game every five years, I agree would be an overreaction. Worry would be, with the greedy lot running and ruining footy it won't stop there once it started. We would probably end up paying ten matches a season across the globe, China to States.

Yeah, that I get, and I'd be up in arms too.

With all due respect to the Mancunians reading this, no one will actually stop supporting the club if this happens. People said the same thing in before the NFL and the NBA moved games, and in the end it's definitely an annoyance, but everyone just lives with.

For the record I think playing games outside of the UK is a very stupid plan, but still.
I would probably stop paying much interest in top level football if the prem did this. English league games being played in Miami? They can fuck off

Be interesting to see the demonstrations by the Spanish ultras this season.

Citys commercial revenue is the key to future success. It's the one area United has an advantage. Like it or not Citys ability to attract fans worldwide is important. But that has nothing to do with the conversation about overseas games. Just about looking down on overseas fans.

Obviously the individual game in the US isn't of any real value. La Liga is doing it to attract interest, and boost their next TV contract in the states.

I don't know about playing a league game abroad, but if we ever get taken over by rich foreigners (i.e. anyone from outside Manchester), I'm definitely out.

Completely irrelevant and shows you don’t understand why local fans would be pissed off.

Pretty shocked this has happened. We always heard about Old Firm coming to England, some sort of super league and a 39th match here etc

Didnt expect this from La Liga

Won’t happen in the premier league. Remember the 39th game idea? It’s a slap in the face to local fans and Scudamore would be pushed out the door before he can even get any support for it.
