Got a feeling that the Barca board like the idea because of the political situation in Spain with Catalonia.
If Catalonia becomes independent it's unlikely they'll play in the Spanish league, either because they don't want to or because the rest of the league bans them.
Where are Barca going to play if that happens?
Barca want to devalue Spanish league and promote competition outside Spain.
