Utd 1 City 6 OTD 23/10/2011

Dad was a big City fan and attended to the 1956 FA Cup Final.
He took me to my first ever game in April 1971, and thanks to his encouragement, I’ve since experienced every possible emotion, from the dark days of our lowest-ever League position at York (yes I was there), to European adventures in Russia, Romania, and the Czech Republic.

Sadly, Dad contracted a vicious strain of dementia, and made his last sliding tackle during an International Break in October 2011.

I didn’t really have the stomach for football, but just a few days after his funeral, I summoned enough energy for the Old Trafford derby.

We all know the outcome, but for many rags, it was their first experience of total humiliation in their own backyard, and they’re not exactly renowned for gallows humour.
It was total carnage, so after bobbing and weaving through the swaying masses, I jumped on a bus at the cricket ground.

Nobody spoke, and the bloke next to me was hunched with his head in his hands. I recognised his pain, so respectfully pretended to be equally distressed, whilst inwardly enjoying the pleasures of football karma.

Eventually, he rose from his slumber at Deansgate before confiding in a broad Belfast accent:

“Jesus. I’ve been coming here since 1979, and I’ve never seen us concede 5 before?”

I was just about to make his trauma worse, but the bloke in front had overhead.

“What? Did City get a 5th?

So, there I was, just a few days after the worst day of my life, now sitting in smug silence, after witnessing the funniest, most bizarre moment in more than 1400 games of professional football.

I looked to the heavens and smiled.

At times like that, you believe in God!

The biggest statement of content a football club can make is to thump the dominant club on their home patch

I can still hear Mike Summerbee's words when we got beaten by them the season before, with a so-called wonder goal by Rooney, shined it, Sky and the panel of guests all laughing and Mike Summerbee stone faced said, You mark my words we will come here and thump them and then told a few home truths about the scum win, they never ever invited him back on the show,

But in that thump when the 6 goal went in a Sky's camera panned in on Mike Summerbee with a look of the cat got the cream cool as fuck

Tried to post the full match but copy right stopped that
The premier League have to protect their legendary footage, lol
And let's face it Utd 1 City 6 is a quality show.

Anyway, Fergusons claim that utd dominated most of the 1st half is somewhat destroyed by the fact their 1st shot on target from Anderson was after 33mins...
We were already one nil up by then ,not to mention an outrageous Yaya effort from distance.

Watching the full game back is still nervy 1st half ,you chase every loose ball from the sofa and give Clattenberg dogs abuse for some serious ' home ' decisions

It's clear how up for it Micah Richards is,Joe Hart in goal calmly deals with utd long distance shots
You see how utterly committed Vincent Kompany is...I actually forgot what a determined talented unit he was for us back in the day ...

There are certain parts of the 1st half ,where you realize Mancini had done a proper tactical job on slur Alex....David Silva and a slim Yaya occasionally find themselves in yards of space in centre midfield.....and you think to yourself how can you let two of the most dangerous players in the world loose at old trafford,in a Derby game ,lol, slur Alex, take a bow......hic
