UWCL Hammarby IF Fotbollförening v CITY (A), Thursday 21st Nov 2024, 17-45PM.

I thought we eventually played well, but the first 15 minutes were dreadful.

Anyway a good win, brilliant from Keating a far better keeper than the Japan keeper for me. Thought the youngster ar RB played quite well up against Blakstad really, she's a very experienced player up against a kid, hopefully nothing serious for Casperaj.

We are very fortunate to have 2 outstanding keepers - in the first leg Yamashita made a world class save at a key point & tonight Keating did the same. They seem to get on off the field as well so maybe Taylor can keep them both happy as we have more games this year. It won't do Khiara any harm having such a good person and experienced keeper alongside her.

The interesting thing about Khiara Keating is that whenever I look at her in the vast windy space of that goal she really seems to be tiny, even by female keeper standards. (Just looked it up; she's 1m67, don't know how that compares with other keepers, Earps is 1m73 for one comparison). So it's very much about positioning and anticipation with her. And of course reflexes. I'm not making a ridiculous comparison here, but Banks had that too. The vast majority of the time, he didn't have to make spectacular, cat-like leaps. It was 70% about positioning.

I've just seen the highlights on Youtube. Clear pen for Hammarby not given when a City defender has a boot in the head of a Hammarby attacker? Didn't see enough detail to see whether there was any contact, but then LBB was fouled, in the same manner as several or ours were last week - grabbing an arm 'n holding, in the build up to Hammarby's equalizer, so no Swedish complaints will be entertained.

Bardsley 1.82m or 6ft, she was the best we have had.
