Uwe Rosler autobiography ''Knocking Down Walls''

He got me at "Hello"

Uwe and the goat just some up what City fan's think about decent bloke's, only Zaba of the current lot appears to understand

Looking forward to the book.....

I was fortunate enough to spend half an hour with him in the players bar when the game at Tottenham got cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch - early '90s'.

A Millwall mate of mine and me got corporate for the game and when the game was called off, we went to the bar and Uwe was there alongside Paul Walsh, Niall Quinn, Keith Curle and a few others.

Got Uwe a drink and he spoke to us in his broken English which wasn't very good but he was very friendly and humble; we spoke about him growing up in East Germany and his life. Terrific bloke and intellegent as was Walshie...............couldn't say the same for Quinn and Curle.

Great bloke, Uwe - I'll never forget it; my Millwall mate said at the end of the day ' think I'll start supporting City '..............summed the day up, really........

Uwe is a star to me. Went to watch him train at Platt Lane and spoke to him in the car park. I mentioned to him that myself and my son had been at the game when he had his trial with City and that my sons 18th birthday was approaching. He noted our names and address and low and behold sent my son a birthday card, something he cherished until it was lost during a house move. Uwe is a top top man.

Anyone tempted by Brentford v Colchester (1500hrs) then a mad dash to City at WHU (1730)? It may be pushing it too much!

Where can you get these T Shirts now? Gave mine to an Austrian mate a few years ago when I visited him.

-- Tue Oct 15, 2013 3:34 pm --

I was at that game,think it was Burnley Reserves,5 - 0 & Uwe scored a hat trick I think.

I remember being at st Andrews about 97-98 we were losing badly , ( think the 6 foot 6 guy kevin francis scored for them?), anyway we were shyte, it looked like we just wernt trying......apart from one man, uwe, that's why he is a heor of mine.

Some great memories. As mentioned above Uwe refers to City as "we" and it isn't fabricated. He has a genuine love of us. I've seen him at Supporters' Club functions and he doesn't let it slip whatsoever so it's clear he is a blue. Top guy and I wish him well in his career and health and hope to see him at the Etihad some day.

Half price at Waterstone, £8.49

Picked up Sunday, started readin on train Sunday night. Completed the read by last night. I could not put it down. Frank, sincere, honest - and even showing his inner regrets. His battle for life, his support by family and friends - and us blues, it was all there. I would happily pass this on to someone for free. Inbox me if you want the book. It cannot be sold on, that is my only condition, read it and pass it on. What a legend, in darker times.

I wont be requiring it acton, my nipper got it for Christmas along with Lakey's book so I'll have a read after him but I just wanted to post it's a nice touch that you're willing to pass it on for free, fair play.
