Van Persie

He is a top forward and at the min he is the difference. At the end of last season I did nt want him. I thought at the time we had 2 strikers that could work brill together and buying Persie would upset a good attack partnership

I was the one. Never expected him to hit such form with United so soon to be honest so I was wrong there but still think he was not needed when no other striker was sold.

You can't just buy someone because he is good and leave someone on 100k+ doing nothing (though Mancini did it with Adebayor/Bridge/Santa Cruz, I guess money-men were not ready to repeat it and rightly so).

He went there and let it be, we can't have all top players.

Easy to say that but the reality is it would have been too difficult. You simply can't have 5 top class strikers on the same team, and getting rid of one or even two of the ones we already had last summer was going to be extremely hard. Balotelli clearly wasn't going anywhere and even if he did, you can't replace your 4th choice striker with arguably one of the Top 3 strikers in Europe. Same with Dzeko, who had only been bought a year and a half before, on a huge transfer fee, and who's on big wages. Tevez, too, couldn't move anywhere because his wage demands were so high even P$G wouldn't pay them.

At the end of the day, I'd take our striking quartet over United's anyday. People should be happy we have one of the best strikeforces in Europe and not cry every time we don't buy every world class player that comes on the market regardless of necessity.

What the hell has the opinion of Bluemoon members got to do with the transfer policy? Nothing.

Why do people keep forgetting that RVP is dead? You have very short memories, some of you.

He is a **** playing for a team of cunts.

Perfect fit for scum, he'd have cried off injured with us by now because Sergio and Carlos were keeping him out.

If we had only a couple of strikers then RVP would be an ideal choice. A quality player, but we would have trouble in shifting Dzeko (who we are struggling to get the best out of in my opinion) and Balotelli (wages, issues with is commitment and consistency), which gave them a clear run in signing Van Persie.

Rvp is still a risk. If I recall he's only had a full season not injured. If he can go another season that's very good for united

As an onlooker my thoughts are that Mancini thought his strikeforce was good enough. Tevez, aguero, dzeko and balotelli all played a part last season. Even the weakest two would get in most teams strikeforce.

I think most on here didn't question his ability, but just didn't like the bloke because he's a wanker. That always clouds judgements. It's like the people who say they wouldn't want Jose or Wilshere at their club, fans are fickle and daft at times.

Hindsight and all that bollocks
