Var debate 2019/20

Premier League CEO, Richard Masters, on VAR: “I think offsides is one [that can be tweaked] and whether you want offsides that are precise to the armpit or the heel, or whether you want to build in a bit of tolerance. That is sort of a technical challenge...

"We are in constant dialogue with IFAB about it and the way the Premier League does it versus everyone else and what we can learn from other leagues. We will look at the development next season to iron out some of the issues we have had..."

"We have improved in-stadium communication with the slightly different replat screen experience we now have and the decision making is now better. If we can get that speed up as well, and it will happen in time. Everybody is on a learning curve.” [via @AP]

Explain why there are no screens at the dippers and rags

Tweak it after fixing it this season eh, Big deal

They practised it last season

Different conclusions to checks,if done, from game to game

Why are you using it differently than everyone else

No idea, this is what VAR showed.
I never saw that shown to be fair.

That picture seems heavily cropped, here's the full picture.

The angle of that line looks dodgy(is that why it was cropped?) I would like to see it in motion because it's hard to tell the moment it leaves the passer's foot which I believe is supposed to be the moment in question.

I looked on the replays at this pass and he appeared onside is the only reason I'm still questioning it. It does look like he could have been off from this angle though, less convinced it's another robbery now. Bit of a relief if anything, there's too many already.

The footage is on the cup games thread,it was a good goal

Yes but this pass came earlier than what people were focussing on, even the broadcasters seemed to choose the wrong passage of play. We didn't see this angle of the ball over the top which started the move off.

The powers that be didn't want var in the first place. Liverpool and Utd didn't want var.

Remember it's first use in England? That line that looked to have been hand drawn by a 4 year old in a rag cup game?

It was blatantly obvious even then that something wasn't right, I mean a squiggly line on tv in this day and age, really!

It's been manipulated so much that many fans now want rid of it, this is what they want, job almost done.

I hate it & am giving up the game I loved because of it but job isn’t done , they’re not scrapping it , it’s doing the job it was designed for. They can manipulate games , get the winners they want while the fans are argueing what’s right or wrong, devided & conquered.

It’s always going to modified and tweaked for the better - same as the laws before VAR. The game evolves each year and VAR is still in its infancy- it’s always going to look at ways to improve or would you prefer VAR to remain as it is ?

Just had a look on the highlights on youtube, bt I think, there is defo no offside in their build up sequence, dont know how to upload, but its on there alright.
