Var debate 2019/20

Agree that's why this could be my last season as a match going fan, the game is as bent as a 9 bob note yet no one in the press/media is investing this , it stinks

I am a season ticket holder have been for years and started watching non league football and it’s a breath of fresh air. Alty won 5 2 last night! I will still go to city games now and then but committing to a season ticket I am not doing anymore.

That is a long way before the goal and the first ball forward goes nowhere near the player in the centre!! It’s deliberately being used to rule out the goal.
It's not the player in the centre that was deemed offside. It's the one nearest the camera. His foot is the point they've used for the red line.

P. 1133. Post with a twitter video of the wrong bit then VAR still. The blue line for the defenders seems drawn to a Liverpool player's hand rather than body so the Shrewsbury player in the still looks even more offside. It just doesn't look anything like that in the replays of the live action.
1 min 40.

Where are the lines?

"That doesnt look offside"

Maybe it was because it wasnt offside?

Well, this time they got it right, I guess.

How long before the goal was that? The Shrewsbury player on the near side was running back towards the ball anyway so hardly seeking an advantage. I personally have had enough of VAR, mainly becasue it is operated by the same bloody incompetents who referee out on the pitch. If they intend to persevere with it the offside laws need re-examining big time. There is no way on this planet that that would be considered offside prior to the introduction of VAR.

The wide man crossed the ball which led to the goal. Less than 10 seconds, so definitely the same piece of play.
There is no gaining an advantage in offside if you get the ball - if he's off when the ball is played to him, he's off wherever he gets the ball.

As a random aside, the last bit means now that a freekick for offside can be given in your own half, if that's where the player becomes active - Aguero (I think) fell foul of this last season, as he was in an offside position (in the opponent's half) when a high clearance was made, and challenged for the ball inside the City half.

I have just looked at this on full screen on my laptop, the ball and his foot are so blurred there is no way they can say 100% that is the moment he passed the ball another frame on and the player is odd side. They are making a call on a blurred picture were you cant see his foot or the ball clearly. Why oh way aren't the press investigating this its bent as **** !! Its costing clubs millions or even relegation this season is really tainted

I could look at that picture and honestly say I don't think the ball has reach the players foot yet its been frozen to early

They asked 1,400 people is var working well, 1,400 people ffs that’s a pinhead of people that attend premier league games every week.

Source: you gov

Keep using, with changes 74%
Stop using entirely 15%
Keep using without changes8%
Don’t know 3%

This survey is not a true reflection of the match going fans.

My point is out of the 1,400 people are they match attending supporters
Just some random person in the street
We don’t know, but surely you can’t take this survey at face value
All those answers were given on the home team coach going to Klanfield.

honestly everyone i know says it's shit but wouldn't scrap it, just need to implement rules better.

the rules are the biggest problem ?? and the offside rule needs changing and why not just use the players head as a base for the lines ?? that way you could be facing anyway or your arm leg or leaning forward of the defender but your onside because your head is level with the defender

also this vision thing keeps coming up and line of sight and camera angels ? we all know things can look smaller when far away from something in front of you or if you are not dead inline, this must be looked at and even have a rolling camera on the pitch something like in athletics in running like the 100 meters

and as for handball its a joke ?? they make it up from week to week to suit, if laporte's is hand ball in the spurs game and liverpool's TAA is not vs city then give up
