Var debate 2019/20

I just cannot understand why a clear aspect of the LotG are ignored when VAR can deliver the answer immediately. How we get a retake in the West Ham game when the first to the ball infringed the distance rule, but goalkeepers are immune to the idea that that can't come off their line. Mind, it's goalkeepers who also seem immune to any sanction re gross time wasting. All part and parcel of the institutionalised cheating,

Yes, the PL decision to not use VAR on goalline movement is a bit strange, but is it better than reviewing mutely every penalty save? I don't know, but I can imagine annoyance at play being stopped/brought back each time.

Why can't the linesmen see a keeper off his line is more worrying to me, as it's all they have to look at.

Both teams can be treated fairly and a mistake can still happen which var could intervene.

Imagine you have a fair and balanced ref who has a great game but sheff wed score a blatant offside goal that gets missed by the ref and linesman and end up winning the match because of it, you won't be bothered because you both have the same advantage/disadvantage.

I'd be pretty pissed off if we got knocked out by a goal that would have certainly been overturned if var was in place.

If the Shrews goal at Anfield was scored at their ground there's a good chance we lose that game or end up going to extra time and possibly pens.

It'll be like it has been for the last hundred years or so then. Annoying, but evenhanded on the day.

This is what happens if VAR is not in use, people want it scrapped - so say they scrapped it for offside decisions - and a player scores from miles offside, the same people that 'hate' it and dont want it would be saying ''well, where's VAR then ? ''

opinions would change if they take it away from the game, too many people have a rose tinted view that before VAR everyone was all happy and could accept the odd ref mistake - that is simply not true and from what i saw week in week out on MOTD, on here and social media - there was uproar about poor decisions by Refs in pretty much every game, most of the uproar with VAR seems to be even when they get the right decision within the laws of the game.

Yes, the main issues with VAR appear to be:
- time taken
- people not knowing what's happening or what is covered by VAR

Solve at least one of them, and it'll be a lot better.

No one.

Again, it doesn't matter because it's not operating for Sheffield Wednesday or Manchester City, so it's not effecting the tie.

And as long as both sides in the tie are treated equally, it doesn't effect the wider competition.
You really don't get it do you. Let me explain for you. All teams in the same competition should be playing under the same laws / rules. Had that goal for Shrewsbury being scored at their ground it would have been 1-0 to Shrewsbury and who knows the how the game might have finished. Chelsea may have ended up playing Shrewsbury and their team would have been different to the one they are now going to have to play and why? Because of VAR. Now do you understand? If not I am done as it isn't difficult.

It is facial that some matches have VAR and some dont yet it's the same competition. Next season the premier league will allow some times to use VAR and some teams not to use VAR. No different to the fa cup;)

You are just being willfully stupid now.

Firstly, the rules are the same for all teams at all times. VAR doesn't change the rules.

Secondly, IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER AS LONG AS BOTH TEAMS ARE OFFICIATED THE SAME. VAR at home isn't an advantage to Liverpool, it's just as likely to help Shrewsbury as Liverpool.

Shrewsbury might have gotten a goal at Anfield with VAR, but they could also have conceded an offside goal with no VAR to protect them. Neither team is getting an advantage.

A child should be able to understand this.

Shrewsbury might have gotten a goal at their place, but they could also have conceded an offside goal with no VAR to protect them.

A child should be able to understand this.

And they'd not have got the penalty they got at home.

As you say, every team that enters has the same rules. They know that VAR will work if some teams are drawn at home. Everything is evenhanded.

If it was in any way unfair, it wouldn't be part of the competition at all.
