Var debate 2019/20

We are the ones with the most detailed reviews and 2 goals disallowed and a stonewall not given and rodders declared a cheat,we are the ones most hit so far, that is fact,we have dropped points because of it,it's hard to feel that we are getting a fair deal,if they have no intention of over turning the ref then what is the point? say so and spare us the pretend var checks, just because they haven't over turned the refs decisions on pens so far that doesn't mean they weren't pens, they need to be clear with us fans what this new threshold for pens is,even walton yesterday said he doesn't know what it is,with the rodders pen it was clear oliver didn't see it so they wouldn't have been over turning him if they gave it,it was a clear and obvious error instead they have tarnished rodders name
As for why i still bother that is a good question, today i hated the game,i was waiting to celebrate the goals and waiting to have them chalked off,i felt annoyed the whole way through,i can't see me enjoying another game watching it live,i think i will have to watch them back and enjoy it that way,it's not fucking on is it
According to the liar Swarprick on live national radio Oliver did see it On Monday Night Football Neville showed he wasn’t even looking in that direction

Rags have already been done over. Martial penalty claim yesterday was as clear as they come.

Of course for VAR to influence the season outcome to create a Rags trophy win would be stretching all credibility given their current state.
Littlewoods FC though would only require a subtle massaging of decisions - including pegging all of their rivals back rather than blatantly awarding VAR decisions in their favour alone.

Time will tell, but I think I know how it is going to turn out.....
The only thing City can do is keep doing what they are doing and score enough non contentious goals to make the use of VAR academic as far as is possible.
i'll need to look at it again to be honest when i saw it last night didn't think it was a clear and obvious error where as rodri and merlin's were

Yeah they didn’t bother with all this “clear and obvious” crap last year. If the ref missed a penalty, he was told he may want another look at it on the half way line.

Some then changed their decision, some states with their original decision.

What was wrong with that?
It’ll be interesting to see the implementation of it in the Chumps again when that starts in a few weeks time, see whether their use impacts how ours is done.

Well in normal play I didn't think it was a penalty, however once it's gone to VAR , and I have seen slowed down I cannot understand why this was not a penalty. Amazing decision really.

I’d love to see the transcripts of the Silva penalty conversation.

Let alone title race hypotheticals, if it were 95th minute in today’s match, city up 2-1 or drawn 2-2, and that happened to a Bournemouth player in the box, would they:

A) have similarly spent 20 seconds and swiftly decided no penalty

B) have spent 2 minutes with every possible angle and determined penalty

C) have called the pen in the first place and used VAR to swiftly confirm it in 20 seconds?

My guess is it would have been options B or C, and that whether it’s explicit or implicit bias, the conversation between Marriner and VAR would have been markedly different to get to that conclusion than it was for Silva.

Whether any of them realize it or whether the clever among them (on the pitch or in the booth) do and use the naïveté of those who don’t, it’s a tool that can be used with precision to reinforce notions of how the game and league “ought” to work with respect to title races, the balance of power, and entitlement to outcomes.

My point is why have the monitor there then? They said that’d be the reason for its use.

When they used pitch side monitors at the WC they found that refs were probably too prone to overturning correct calls. If the VAR official advised them to have a look they psychologically assumed they’d got it wrong. I think using monitors in the PL is asking for trouble. Refs will be under enormous pressure from the home crowd plus theres also the risk of nutters throwing coins etc at them.

The refs are sticking together, non of them dare admit to a mistake,we would have more respect for the process if they were straight we us,they have now admitted they can't be sure of offsides like razs one because the tech is not fast enough but they still chalked it off so they could show us all their wriggly lines

What gets forgotten is that we, as City fans, see and remember our incidents just as Wolves fans remember theirs and United fans remember theirs. So we all think that var is against our own teams. You see the same stuff that’s on Bluemoon on most forums.

As the data set is so small (3 games) any club that’s been on the receiving end more than they’ve gained from it (4-2 against for us so far) then it’s understandable we think it’s against us as opposed to just useless for everyone.

PGMOL have decided to die on their “clear and obvious” hill when it comes to overturning the ref on the pitch for a penalty. They’ve also done the same on handball (as Wolves fans will attest).

The key for me will be whether there is consistency for all teams throughout the season or if one weekend they’ll change for every game as they know they’ve driven down a metaphoric blind alley. I’d personally sack the whole thing off apart from mistaken identity and “clear and obvious” offsides (a la Milner at West Ham).

I don’t think anyone would be too upset with that. But it won’t happen sadly.

This is the kind of stuff that discredits any discussion.

United clearly got shafted on it yesterday. Only a biased fool would say otherwise.

It’s not being done against us.

It’s being done against the tech. Refs want it gone.
You'll get posters almost craving the scousers to get Var to overrule the onfield Refs penalty decision, just to prove a point. If they are shafted like us and the rags it will put to bed it was brought in to stop us

It's just being badly used..
