I can remember it once before when St Marcus “scored” v Dippers, but it then disappeared until Saturday. It’s meant to favour the attacker when it’s a close call, so give the goal if they are level & you can be slightly wrong, but the long VAR review suggests that here they spent ages to work out whether it was 4 or 6 cm offside, which wasn’t the point of the rule. When was this 5cm rule enacted, and why doesn’t anybody else know? We’ve been told, like you say, that offside isn’t subjective, but now it is.
What a farce, once again finding a new law to allow for obvious cheating.
The rule is now back in the box till needed again.
