VAR Discussion Thread

Since VAR was brought in we’ve won 6 titles to utd’s zero.

Years of no penalties being awarded at the swamp and not even close offside decisions going in their favour with refs being bullied.

Yes it’s a atmosphere killer at times but I reckon VAR being introduced costs Utd 10
points a season.

That Barnes disallowed goal is an absolute disgrace and every single club should be boycotting the VAR. It hits his ribs.
Outrageous decision to disallow it. Just seen it on MotD and I think you can see a line of his shirt colour between his arm and the ball in one of the angles. Knowing VAR that's probably the angle they discarded in order to go with one of the angles where the perspective distorts what appears to have happened. It's an absolute shit show, clear and obvious IMO.

The daylight one for offsides should never ever come in! More teams now will just sit deeper! It’s like it’s been brought in just for the high line football! The 5 second for throw ins and goal kicks is good! As always will it be fairly enforced?

Law changes confirmed:
VAR for corners and 2nd yellows
5-sec countdown on throws and goal-kicks
10-sec countdown on subs
As revealed, players off for 1 min on an injury
Wenger's "daylight" offside trials for Canada from April
While VAR will be reviewing corners at The World Cup, FIFA have agreed that because of the opposition to it, competitions can opt out of extending VAR powers to cover that. It's expected that both The Premier League and UEFA will opt out.

We haven't won 6 titles since VAR was introduced and united wouldn't have won any in that time either, VAR or no VAR.

I was all for it. But, it’s far too busy. We didn’t start going to football to watch some busy bastard draw lines, we went because it was fun.

We don’t want the fun Police

However, there should be a role for tech I.e the penalty in the Bournemouth game that should have been given.

What is the point of tech, if it still relies on humans backing up their mates??

We still don’t know to this day if the ball crossed the line to give us the World Cup but the Russian linesman gave it THATS sport, it’s in the moment it’s history making ,it’s human error Fk off var

I’m going to argue a point that I probably don’t agree with but stick with me

Fernandes scores that Burnley goal against us, are we screaming handball! Probably

However that Fernandes/Rashford offside goal was given a couple of years ago and we were screaming then

My point is - there is very little benefit in VAR if we are still discussing it afterwards. It should be correct or wrong. It has to be black and white, if not then it’s no good

Exactly my point.. why have VAR if we still have the shit.

The Burnley handball decision is so frustrating because VAR are not supposed to get involved of the ref hasn't made a clear and obvious error.

From the slow motion angle we saw multiple times, you could not definitely say it hit his arm. My own opinion was that it looked more like it hit his ribs close to his arm.

Therefore ref hasn't made a clear and obvious error, VAR keep their beaks out of it, and goal stands.

This countdown shit is just needless admin. Just stop the clock when the ball is out. It solves all the time wasting bullshit then
