I actually think the press are part of the issue...they want this "controversy" as it sells.....its absolutely clear to me that when you ahve two or more pundits on a panel that they are scripted..one to say one thing - the other to oppose them around decisions like this....to help create that controversy and conversation around it.....you can certainly tell with pundits like Sturridge and Richards!!!....Neville and Caragher are two others who do this as well but not as often...then you usually have a third (and Keane plays this part very well) who will side with one or the other or just say something controversial that has nothing to do with the debate....Everyone is interviewed after the game, players, managers, pundits yet the twats ruining the game are not, the press shoukd be allowed to question the referees and the ones at Stockley park and ask them why they made those decisions. Ask why a penalty wasn’t given for the holding on the West Ham players prior to the foul on Raya? They hide away and any critiscm (Rodri) and you are dragged over the coals, it’s ridiculous.
Fuck the press and go back to basics...get rid of VAR, give the press no access to anything other than pre match and post match interviews with manager and players.
I like what Pep does - he generally (not all the time but most ofthe time) refuses to get drawn into the discussion on refs etc (He has slipped at times)...treat them witht he disdain they deserve unless its questions about the tactics and game itself.
Fine every manager who even mentions decisions!! - Especially Arteta who is the biggest hypocrite going!
