VAR impact and consequence log - game 27

Seems strange that they can award us a pen against Spurs two mins after the foul, but didn’t review such an obvious error yesterday

I have said it many times, that having the regular officials also looking after VAR, is like letting the prisoners run the prison.

The VAR cabin at Stockley Park should be maned by a permanent staff of completely independent adjudicators, if any of us are ever going to have faith in the system. They might come up with decisions we will not agree with but at least I would expect a greater consistency in their rulings.

We are definitely one of the Clubs who is getting stitched up with VAR as it operates now. The incident with Aguero last night was a nailed on penalty.

From the IFAB website -
"The philosophy of VARs is ‘minimum interference – maximum benefit’ which aims to reduce unfairness caused by ‘clear and obvious errors’ or ‘serious missed incidents’.

Gross incompetence is no barrier to becoming a VAR official.

Can anyone recaall if Friend blew the whistle for offside or if he allowed advantage to West Ham as they had the ball. If he blew the whistle was it after the foul had been committed? If so VAR should have reviewed a possible penalty. Yet another example of how VAR is being used to manipulate results

wasn't clear either way on the telly, but you're correct, that's what should have happened

Just watching it back, referee did not blow. To confirm that there was no dead ball kick as the keeper played it out to the left wing.

As there was no whistle it could have then been reviewed but, as Sky confirmed at HT, no review was done by VAR.

Blatant.

Stockley Park admitted that they got it wrong today and Lo Celso should have been sent off. This was at least 30 minutes later, thus opening a huge can of worms. Should he be sent off when they realised and what an uproar if he had scored in the meantime. I await with bated breath to see if the wise monkeys at PIGMOL have the bottle to retrospectively ban him.
Change of subject Football is Fixed have a few pertinent observations about Alty, if only a small percentage is true football is on a very slippery slope.
