VAR (PL introduction 2019)

Every issue you’ve mentioned is an issue with how VAR is used. There’s a clear distinction between the two. I don’t think there’s anybody out there that’s happy with the times it’s taking for decisions and some of the farcical robotic-like interpretation of flawed rules is ridiculous too but to suggest we scrap it all completely because we want a perfect flawless instant system straight away is insane.

It’s going to lead to a lot of frustration for probably a few seasons whilst they tweak the system and get it to a point where it’s in an acceptable spot but it’s a relatively small price to pay overall when you consider how much fairer it makes the game for all.

I’m shocked at how many are against it considering the overwhelming belief on here that there’s this football cabal that are so dead set against us that are corrupt to the core and will do whatever they can to destabilise us.
God you are naive . VAR is used by people. It is not separate. So many decisions by humans:
What should be reviewed?
How far back do you take play in a build up?
Which frame do you use to freeze for offside?
Then the decisions themselves.
All require human judgement free from bias and corruption. Potential to stitch us up even more as we have already seen.
All this and it all detracts from the moment.

We’ve got this to look forward to next season. What have they done?
Football has always been about mistakes, from both players and officials. It’s the jeopardy part that makes football what it is. If it’s as bad as I think it will be, it’ll be my last season next year. Division 3, Stockport, York City, Phil Neal, Alan Ball, Frank Clark, Billy McNeill, Jimmy Frizzel and Stuart Pearce never came close to making me stop going to City for 40+ years. 1 season of VAR and I think I’ll be done.....
Absolute spot on. Same here

With all the delays for VAR reviews, football is going to be like North American sport where it takes about three hours to play a 60 minute game.
Beginning of the end of the game we love .....for a tv audience who like X factor , or love island , great suspense , for football fans ...the end.

and that should be a straight red to go along with the elbow ealier.

VAR is fucking wank when it is controlled by incompetent cheats.

I’m afraid you’re right. In an attempt to improve fairness by eliminating or reducing officiating errors the game will be ruined as entertainment. It’s very sad.

I think the refs just don't want to make any contentious decisions that they could have overturned. They just let VAR make the decision.

Wrong. Walking out of a stadium when the other team have scored a blatant offside/penalty that shouldn’t have been ,has totally spoiled the occasion.
Wait for the empty grounds. Teams can’t keep fans in until 4.45 so 15 minutes VAR added time is going to make it much, much worse. Just think, there’ll NEVER be another Aguero moment again. How sad is that?

Half right pal ....it’ll be entertaining for the neutral masses who are watching round the world on tv , I suspect this is what uefa are after . The City v Spurs game was lauded as one of the all time great champions league games, neutrals said to me as much .....the Fact City were cheated out of going through made no difference to them ...the crucial thing to me which I think was a first is that a tv company BT decided the outcome of a match ....the end is near for all of us who love football.

Which right-minded person decided that ankle raker wasn't a red card?

If the ref who has looked at the replays for 3 minutes can't see it then she should hand her card back in and retire, the person who was viewing in the TV room should be sacked on the spot.
