VAR (PL introduction 2019)

I agree with regards to the intent of use, but we've seen a different reality. I've seen them pull play back to something that happened on the other side of the pitch as an excuse. It will never be an objective interpretation. Once you grasp the corruption In the game, you'll better understand the reasons. We just have to get on with it. Doesn't mean that it's not a sham.

Which example???

Unless we have full transparency, it will always be the interpretation of the official person viewing it.
We will no doubt be getting fcuked over by VAR this season on numerous occasions, with the officials ‘not having that angle’, yet all those watching at home do.
Televised corruption inbound.

It will be a different game , you go with this new game or you want the game we all fell in love with to remain the same , non of us know how it will ultimately work out but we all have our own ideas but it will change the game .
It doesn't have to change the game too much but I fear it will. I worry refs and linesmen will start relying on rather than trusting their initial judgement.
If it cuts diving out of the game, that will be a plus, but I'm worried about the game becoming very stop-start. The worst bit will be goals being disallowed or even beijng allowed but having to wait before celebrating, rather than feeling that instant ecstasy when the ball hits the back of the net.

I was all for it, however, after that UCL game v spurs, I'm completely against it!

Don't agree. It will give a significant improvement over the current flawed/corrupt system. It wont ever correct 100% of decisions, to think it will is unfair partly due to the subjective nature of some decisions and the old human error/misapplication of the rules which will still happen on occasion. However, the 6 point swing against City in the first 6 games of last season, where Liverpool gained 4 points they didn't deserve and we lost 2 points away at wolves to a goal which was both offside and handball will be eradicated! VAR should level the playing field considerably against the current joke of a system.
Yeah, if only they'd have had var, we might have won the league..

I think it was the U19 (?) this summer. Ref called for VAR over something in one box and then went back down the pitch and awarded a belated penalty in the other. Might have been the Women’s WC. Either way that’s completely out of order.

Nations Cup semifinal, I think. Portugal were awarded a penalty. On VAR review, the ref gave Switzerland a penalty for something that had occurred a few seconds beforehand (Portugal broke up the pitch). There was remarkably little on-pitch complaint.

So VAR gave the first incident which was missed initially by the officials unfairly, which stopped an unfair second decision changing the game completely.... What's the problem??

Totally disingenuous post...

Steven Zuber claims a penalty after a foul by Portugal’s Nelson Semedo. Referee Felix Brych doesn’t see it and waves play on.
Portugal sweep up the field and Bernardo Silva is fouled in the Switzerland penalty area by Fabian Schar. Brych sees it this time and awards a penalty.
The VAR official let’s Brych know he needs to have a look at the original incident and he does so on his pitchside monitor.
Once Brych see's the incident again, he see's clearly the Semedo clip on the heels of Zuber and reverses his incorrect original decision and awards Switzerland the penalty from which they score, which is the correct outcome. Portugal obviously don't get the penalty they were awarded

So VAR worked perfectly and corrected an injustice!!

It was the CL game at home to Schalke that changed my mind. It was a total farce.

Didn’t know what was going on. Didn’t even know the ref had gone to VAR for the goals. Then it came up on the screen that the goals were allowed, it ruined the celebration of the goals, so we didn’t bother celebrating the rest of the goals at all as we were waiting for VAR to come up again. But the players were all back on the half way line and the game kicked off.

Goals in games were celebrated, ridiculous!
