In many corruption/spying scandals perpetrators often play the long game. Social engineering plays a big part in this, and it will be deep and far reaching. They will pull on multiple threads to gain any small advantage, and once they have their in they will manipulate the situation without making it obvious.

I believe corruption is happening in football at the highest levels, but it's hard to say what degree. I'm also not 100% convinced on the motivations. Money, obviously but to what end? I think betting (legal & illegal markets) has to feature quite heavily. Not sure about about other individuals or organisations (such as higher TV revenues due to close title races, or the more popular teams competing for the title) benefiting from corruption.

Difficult to prove either way as you need someone to stick their heads above the parapet and blow the whistle, and there are many reasons why someone would chose not to do that.

Yeah, which then moves me back to if I felt it was manipulated/corrupt, I’d stop watching.

They were forced in to implementing VAR. They couldn’t be the only major football league in the world without video review (that *would* make the corruption too transparent). So they implemented it in a manner that allowed it to be as opaque as it could possibly be.

And the only league in the world which doesn’t follow FIFAs guidelines if I remember correctly.

I nearly did after the Chelsea match when Sergio and Fern got sent off. That match was PROPER dodgy.

Amazing they took like 5 secs to look at Rashford's to decide it's on. I have zero clue why that's onside and fairly certain the refs don't either.

Some lame excuse "new stress lines?" which give the advantage to the attacker ??

Had radio on at the weekend in the car, think radio 5, and the commentator said something along the lines of we have 90 seconds left but there will be a minimum of three minutes added on at the end.

This is what you said.

I know what I said. Nowhere in there did I suggest he thought there would be a minimum of 3 minutes. You really need to either a) learn to read, b) stop trolling, c) understand the nuances of English grammar or d) all three

But he didn’t. You suggested he thought there would be a minimum of 3 minutes. He can think that because of 6 things happening in the second half.

It might well have turned out to be more than 3 minutes.

When games are well and truly over, referees often play less injury time than they should. Some might argue that more time should be played as GD might be important etc, but the reality is that neither club would want more time to be played in that scenario.

Good job that we played as long as we did on 23rd October 2011…. Regardless of the result never being in doubt
