Vardy leaving Leicester after 13 years

All subjective. Lineker was probably their finest in terms of quality. One of the best strikers in the world for a number of years. England's 2nd best all-time leading goalscorer for a long time until he was overtaken by potato head and Kane. His goal to games ratio for England was much superior to the granny shagger too.

I'd give Vardy the nod over Lineker personally more based on longevity than quality. Playing over twice as many games and also winning silverware for them. A rather unfashionable club that have won very little historically.

Don't ever think I'd give the accolade to a goalkeeper, but again, personal preference.
Agreed. Vary is excellent, I would rate Vardy as similar to Ian Wright, lethal finisher with pace who would run all day and had bit of bollix about him.

Lineker in my opinion was better, wasn't especially quick, wasn't especially strong, couldn't really beat a player but one of the most intelligent forwards to play to game. Watching him when I was younger I could never understand how he scored so much, he had the best movement of any English striker.

It's interesting how you say that. I've heard Gary say himself in a podcast I think it was his biggest asset was his pace. I think people's opinions get a bit skewed over time. General consensus online is he was very quick. That coupled with his movement as you allude to.

I would say he was lively more than fast, sharp and very quick to react. Perhaps my definition is too high but the likes of Wright, Owen, Romario etc would be quicker than him. The other thing I would say is he was two footed, good touch and one of the best finishers you will ever see. Not just one an ones, but weird flukey goals.

It is hard to explain, I always remember balls going in off his arse, back of the head, thigh etc. A general comment was "jammy bastard" but he did too often for it to be a fluke. Excellent player, hard to compare him to anyone in the modern game, especially in todays football.

Goater style in the flukey ones, but different level of course.

Lineker was rapid mate

Nice to get the 200th goal, never minded him did his job very well, over achieved if anything, but balanced it off by marrying a tramp.
