In which case you could argue that Silva' ball winning stats are ven worse as Madrid probably ahd far more possession and thus less opportuntiy t win the ball back. I couldn't say who is the ebtter player, but feel the attitueds to VDV are misguided. The Real madrid fans were certianly won over by him last season and given the competition he had for his place and the fact he wasn't one of Perez's Galacticos he did very well to wi his place. It's unlikely that a player who has won 83 caps for Holland and who benched Kaka last season is going to be ina significantly lower class than a player like David Silva. They are probably fairly more even matched than most posters here wish to believe. To be better than VDV you have to be in an elite group of truely world class players and surely David Silva can't be considered amongst those.
Mate, Silva is and has been a superior player to VDV for a few years now. I don't think you'd be disputing that if he hadn't just signed for Spurs tbh. VDV may have 83 caps for Holland, but the majority of those have came from the bench. Silva on the under hand has over 60 caps for Spain, with almost all of those playing from the start, added to the fact that he's 3 years younger and that the Spanish obviously have a far superior midfield. If he was such a revelation at Real last year, I really don't see someone like Mourinho being forced into selling him. I'm pretty sure VDV was replaced by Granero for alot of the latter games last season and that the main reason Kaka lost his place was because of the injuries he picked up.

The large majority of VDV's cap have been as a starter and not from the bench. Silva doesn't have over 60 caps for Spain. I initially joined this forum when you played HSV in the UEFA Cup as i lived in Hamburg and follow them, so know just how good VDV is. English audiences didn't have the Bundesliga in those days and are judging him on his time at Madrid when he was treated pretty badly. Before we played you twice last season there were numeorus threads comapring our sides and your fans always largelly dismissed our players in faour of yours. You did the same a few weeks ago and your doingt he same now. I'm not saying VDV will be better than Silva and will just wait and see. I'd advise City fans to dot he same adn peedubya has said he's going to. There is no point making definitive statements either way, especially that unless Bluemoon is very different to any other football fourm, most posters will convince themsleves and others that they have seen and know far more about players than they actually do.

thread title is a joke.

^^^This.

Actually I would say the titles an insult. VDV is not a good player, RM have been trying to give him away for thepast season, man ure were offered him for £8 mill before spurs according to some reports.

agreed , some people need to give their head a wobble!

Both unproven in this league.
Silva has atleast 5 more years left than VDV
Yes Silva was dearer but deffinately the better prospect!

Fetfatzidis is way better than VDV & Silva.

We have to sign him as soon as possible.

We can sign him for 2m because he has a buy-out clause in his contract. What do you guys think?I know I am a bit off topic but I think we have to sign some great talents like him if we want to win something.

Fetfatzidis is like the most talented greek player (more talented than Ferguson's choice, Sotiris Ninis) and Olympiakos' president wants to renew his contract with a higher buy-out clause.

Haha man, I'm not Fetfatzidis. In fact, I don't even support the team he's playing for.

I am just a Greek fan of Manchester City and I really think that this is the next big thing of European football. He's just 19 years old and he's the best player of Olympiakos, a lot better than Ariel Ibagaza. He's just 1.65m and really, really fast.A total bargain for just 2m.

We have to be quick and sign him for that money because if we don't he'll sign a new contract with better wages and higher buy-out clause.

Sign him as soon as possible. We have nothing to lose. :)

Living in Hamburg and following HSV instead of St Pauli? Shame on you.

Every country has it's brilliant upcoming stars who are gonna be as good as Messi, etc. 99% of them seem to go on to be little more than one hit wonders to be fair. Wasn't Samaras the pride of Greek football when we signed him?

Well, tbf an agent doesn't really have to support his player's club.

After watching that video, I disagree. His touch is poor and his technique isn't great either. We have better already here.
