Veganism

I find it useful mate, thanks for the heads up on this. All the Quorn products currently on sale in the UK contain milk protein as a main ingredient. I enjoyed their foods when I was a vegetarian and before making the correct decision to become a vegan so I will look out for these options with interest.

Careful! :)

corrected by a normal human being.

Saying that why is it okay for other animals to eat animals but we as animals can't eat other animals.

I'd like to think we are intelligent enough to appreciate the game we're playing (life) and that we're just too smart to be exploiting other living things for what it basically our convenience and tastebuds. Personally I couldn't give a shit if we were omnivores, or even if eating meat took 5 years off your life, I believe we are too smart now, and something will change very soon in the future. Relatively soon anyway.

Fair enough. I think in 50, 75, 100 years time we'll look back as a race of vegans and think fuck me we used to be savages eating animals. Just like we (most of us, I hope) now think racism, sexism, slavery, homophobia the death penalty etc. etc. is and was wrong.

It's just an incredibly complex issue and you can't stop people eating animals after hundreds of thousands of years of doing so.

Agree completely. (although I think it'll take longer) I imagine those in the anti slavery movements were labelled 'preachy' too. It's the next big thing on the list, and has been neglected for long enough.

I've been assuming that no animals ever die if we don't kill them for food.

Don't tell me I've been lied to all these years.

You'll be telling me there is no Santa Claus next

and what do you think about that truth? I am interested.. because all I ever seem to hear is 'that is how god intended it/it's meant to be' bollocks. Nothing bad happening here at all. Nothing worth stepping away from..

Out of curiosity, If we all decided to become veggies, Would the streets be overrun with wild cows (there would be no reason to maintain them in fields or farms), or would we eradicate them as a species because they are of no use to us anymore?

my main concern would be, what would i put on my golden grahams?

Not to mention pigs, lambs, deer, chickens, ducks, geese etc. It'd be like Planet of the Apes. The world would be taken over by the animals (with the help of their vegan buddies). A terrifying prospect. Eat meat, save mankind.

The medical evidence seems to differ with you.
Does it? I mean surely if we were adapted to eat meat we would be adapted to kill our prey? We really have little evidence to support the fact we evolved to kill. Despite intelligence, our bodies are hardly conditioned to catch prey. Meat consumption was most likely easier for early humans, taking into account their little, or no, understanding of cultivation. It makes sense that as a species it's something we have accepted as easier, despite now knowing we can grow our own food. I'm not saying we should all stop eating meat, I just feel we should have less killing...

Thankfully one day there will be no killing, as we will be growing all our meat;)
