Vertonghen to Spurs

Like I said, they're not. Ferdinand is washed up, Jones is not a central defender and Evans is a joke. I work with Irish rags that know Evans is garbage. Vidic is the only one there that could oust Savic from a spot on the bench. Savic will turn out to be a class player. Anyhow, it's irrelevant, I was asking the other guy about Vertonghen, and whether or not he would accept being a bench warmer.
If you thinks savic is going to be a class player then you are deluded, mid table player at best.

No offence mate but I'll take Mancini's judjement over anyone on here. Again, the point is will vertonghen come here and sit on the bench? We all have opinions on players, and I happen to be of the opinion that the rags do not have four good central defenders. I understand that we need back up, but I don't think one of the highest rated players out there is going to want that, and if he does oust Jolene or Vinnie, will either of those two be willing to sit on the bench?
To reply to your original question: Vertonghen will come in and compete, and if he is judged less capable than Lescott, will act as cover. Personally, I believe if he came in, he'd beat out Lescott eventually. But that is just my opinion, I could be wrong. But what I am certain of, is that he has the quality to succeed at the highest level. Of that I have no doubt.

As for United, Vidic is class. Kompany Class. Ferdinand is an old reliable, and when not injured he is far superior to Kolo or Savic. Jones and Smallings are 2 of Englands brightest CDs. And both have continental ball skills and loads of experience already at a young age. Evans, while average, is the 5th option for United. Hence why I said United has 4 good CDs. But even then, I think even Evans is still a capable defender, and got a whole lot better by season's end. A team with those 5, certainly will not be as interested in a CD, when they have a gulf of issues at CM.

And yes, Vertonghen will seat on the bench if there are better players. All players do at the highest level. I mean Kaka is on the bench at Madrid, so who is Vertonghen to expect otherwise. Remember now, We are the Reigning Champions! Players don't dictate what they want, our coaches do. If Dzeko, German player of the year and one time 5th ranked European player of the year can seat on the bench, then so can Vertonghen and anyoneelse for that matter.

If we do sign a cb it will be a versatile one someone like martinez who can play cm and cb he can get games in midfield until either kompany or Lescott gets injured, suspended or whatever. In terms of Savic he will probably be loaned out as we cant risk him, he basically got us knocked out of the semis of the CC single-handedly and almost lost us the game against spurs with the 2 mistakes add to that the mistake against swansea where he gave away the ball for the goal. So I think we will have Lescott, Kompany, Martinez and Rekik( who is absolute class for his age) as our 4 centre backs next season and maybe boyata as well but he struggled at Bolton so im not sure where he stands maybe another loan or even try and get a few mill for him.

Harsh, we were knocked out of the cc semi mainly due to a poor performance in the home leg. the awful penalty decision at anfield didnt help either! you could call lescott and say he nearly lost us the qpr game due to that awful header that went to cisse. also against swansea the mistake where he gave the ball away for the goal, the goal was a good half a minute after he gave it away, we re-grouped and it was pretty poor defending by everyone, i think it was micah who lost the man if im thinking correctly.

im not saying that savic will be the best defender in the world, or is amazing now 'cos he aint. But arent we supposed to get behind our players? i really dont understand constant slagging him off, get behind the guy and he'll do well. personally i think we should loan him out to a premier league team to get him premier league experience, watching him against england in the euro qualifier where shrek was sent off he had a stormer, even getting a last minute assist. that was while playing right back. again i just think he needs time, obviously he could stick around and get carling cup games but loaning him out is needed, i wouldnt sell him unless we got 10 mill for him and lets face it, we're not.

Cant put all the blame in him for CC or swansea but ive never known a player who makes as many major mistakes as him. What pisses me of is that we had a decent defender in nedum a proper blue and academy product but sold him for peanuts, we could have easily used him in place of savic. But anyway give him a loan move next season and see how he does.

We are bit restricted in stockpiling quality players with the Premier League rules and FFP. I would of liked to see him at City though.

According to the Daily Star (I know, I know) we joined the race for him but he turned us down as he wants to be a regular starter and presumably he wasn't guaranteed that. The same article says we're interested in Coloccini from Newcastle. :D

Coloccini was just mentioned as a target on the SSN transfer news round up, think it was the People that were running the story.
Probably bull shit, but he has been excellent for the past 2 seasons, I'd take him to compete with Lescott.
