To reply to your original question: Vertonghen will come in and compete, and if he is judged less capable than Lescott, will act as cover. Personally, I believe if he came in, he'd beat out Lescott eventually. But that is just my opinion, I could be wrong. But what I am certain of, is that he has the quality to succeed at the highest level. Of that I have no doubt.Barcon said:greasedupdeafguy said:If you thinks savic is going to be a class player then you are deluded, mid table player at best.Barcon said:Like I said, they're not. Ferdinand is washed up, Jones is not a central defender and Evans is a joke. I work with Irish rags that know Evans is garbage. Vidic is the only one there that could oust Savic from a spot on the bench. Savic will turn out to be a class player. Anyhow, it's irrelevant, I was asking the other guy about Vertonghen, and whether or not he would accept being a bench warmer.
No offence mate but I'll take Mancini's judjement over anyone on here. Again, the point is will vertonghen come here and sit on the bench? We all have opinions on players, and I happen to be of the opinion that the rags do not have four good central defenders. I understand that we need back up, but I don't think one of the highest rated players out there is going to want that, and if he does oust Jolene or Vinnie, will either of those two be willing to sit on the bench?
As for United, Vidic is class. Kompany Class. Ferdinand is an old reliable, and when not injured he is far superior to Kolo or Savic. Jones and Smallings are 2 of Englands brightest CDs. And both have continental ball skills and loads of experience already at a young age. Evans, while average, is the 5th option for United. Hence why I said United has 4 good CDs. But even then, I think even Evans is still a capable defender, and got a whole lot better by season's end. A team with those 5, certainly will not be as interested in a CD, when they have a gulf of issues at CM.
And yes, Vertonghen will seat on the bench if there are better players. All players do at the highest level. I mean Kaka is on the bench at Madrid, so who is Vertonghen to expect otherwise. Remember now, We are the Reigning Champions! Players don't dictate what they want, our coaches do. If Dzeko, German player of the year and one time 5th ranked European player of the year can seat on the bench, then so can Vertonghen and anyoneelse for that matter.
