From what i'm hearing you should be more worried about who your manager is next season to be honest.

With regards to Vertonghen, i'm hearing it's done, make of that what you will.............

Well it clearly is not done otherwise the player wouldn't have come out and said what he has said.
Danamy done good

Is it just me that thinks this may show his level. He wouldn't be going to spuds if anyone of us, rags, chelsea or Arsenal wanted him. Its not big headedness its just a fact that the top clubs obviously dont rate him

dissapointed about this. Vertonghen was clearly one of the very good and rising CDs that was clear to the world was eventually going to move to a bigger club. And that was why I liked him. He is immensely talented, same level as Veermalean, Colocini and the like. Skilled, strong and intelligent.

Unlike many, I don't spend time dreaming about taking the best players from teams who don't want or intend to sell them. You don't see me pining for T. Silva, Chellini or Hummels. I think these are silly hopes. It is like AC Milan hoping they would get Kompany. So I focus on guys from Selling clubs, or guys with ambition to move up the ladder.

Vertonghen was a perfect example of that. Leadership, technique, size, strenghth, intelligence. Had it in abundance. He will succeed at the next level, and we should have made it here.

There is still Mbiwa and the City favorite Martinez out there, as CD's ready to step up to the highest level. That is how you build a consistent winner. Not pining for stars of other big clubs who are doing fine and loved at their clubs.

Seosa, take note!

I always laugh these days because he probably only joined us orginally as a stepping stone! Lovely job
I know you love Vertonghen but you have to wonder why the bigger clubs have shown no interest past looking

I wouldn't put too much credence on what big clubs do. Chelsea has 4 good CDs, United has 4, Arsenal has 3. So they were all unlikely to buy. We are the only team with 2 good CDs in the top echeleon. So priority dictates that the others will be less interested. We on the other hand shouldn't. CD is where our biggest deficit lies. We still need to get a good CD. We got Savic last season and no one can tell me they believe Vertonghen is less capable than Savic. I mean, most don't even think Savic is capable at all. So clearly we needed a CD and went a different route, and it seemed the choice was wrong.

Again Kolo is a year older, slower, and we are not Certain if Savic is ready yet. I say get that 3rd Certified CD in. Vertonghen would have been perfect. But apparently hummels is having issues, so I guess we can hope on that front. But I wouldn't hold my breath. Great players at League winning teams, often stay where they are.

I thought I read somewhere that Savic had the best win % in the premier league.

Must admit I had to read it twice - but perhaps he needs a little more time before he feels comfortable in the prem league.

Why are you comparing him to Savic? Do you think he will come here and sit on the bench? Or do you think that one of our centerbacks should make way for him? And who are these four that the scum have? I'll give you Vidic.

Evans, ferdinand, smalling, jones and vidic are all good centre backs

Yes they are vidic is class, ferdiand is still an excellent defender but getting on a bit, smalling is the same age as savic but looks twice the player and evans and jones are both decent but nothing special would get into most sides out of the top 6.

Every player mentioned there is better than city's third option. We do need cb cover vertonghen would be a good addition to the squad and could challenge lescott for a place in the team and provide cover for left back. Kolo might leave and i would rather savic went on loan for a year to gain experience so I think we will go for a cb and if he is available at a reasonable price we should have considered him at least imo. If we get Martinez we have solid cover in the middle and cb so a winger to give us a different plan b than Yaya being pushed forward and I would feel very optimistic for next season as long as we retain height in the forward line. If not then no need for a winger if we have a load of 5 and a half footers standing in the box

Like I said, they're not. Ferdinand is washed up, Jones is not a central defender and Evans is a joke. I work with Irish rags that know Evans is garbage. Vidic is the only one there that could oust Savic from a spot on the bench. Savic will turn out to be a class player. Anyhow, it's irrelevant, I was asking the other guy about Vertonghen, and whether or not he would accept being a bench warmer.

If you thinks savic is going to be a class player then you are deluded, mid table player at best.

No offence mate but I'll take Mancini's judjement over anyone on here. Again, the point is will vertonghen come here and sit on the bench? We all have opinions on players, and I happen to be of the opinion that the rags do not have four good central defenders. I understand that we need back up, but I don't think one of the highest rated players out there is going to want that, and if he does oust Jolene or Vinnie, will either of those two be willing to sit on the bench?
