Vicky Kloss

Met her in the past. Don't know her history but she does scream 'ex copper'. She was sound though

I’ll always be grateful and have the utmost respect for her for standing up for this very forum when Tariq Panja and certain other journalists were shit-stirring over alleged online threats. Still seems slightly surreal that City actually had to give an official statement to the New York Times about us(!), but they were heady days I guess.

Would’ve been very easy for her to have distanced the club, or at least been noncommittal, but instead it felt like a pretty staunch defence:

“The forum in question, which is independent of Manchester City FC, is responsibly managed and has been since its inception,” a City spokesman said. “Manchester City FC has always been impressed with its ability to both present a platform for open debate whilst robustly policing anti-social or offensive posts. The small number of messages which appear to have breached the self-imposed strict rules of the forum were swiftly removed by the moderators themselves prior to any concern being raised by the club, the NYT or indeed any third party.”

Here’s the article in full for anyone interested:

Meanwhile no journalists complain about threats from Liverpool fans such is the ferocity of their forums & other fan media platforms.

Maybe one day Vicky would be able to tell all about what’s happened over the last 10 years. It would make an incredible book.

I like City fans to be involved in the administration / management of “the Club” but does it make a difference, outside the circle of people who benefit from knowing them?

I am hoping it does but I’ve been reflecting on the fact that it’s taken a PSV Eindhoven fan (as group Chief Operating Officer) for cheap tickets to be offered to kids.

To be fair , you want the best people in their particular field and if they happen to be blues great but at the end of the day their abilities have to be No1.

That's the reason we have become such a power house of a club, professional people making business decisions, not emotional ones.

Good point Keeper! For example, I think we saw the benefit of Soriano’s (and Gary Cook’s) vision with stands packed out with people in City shirts on the recent US Tour. Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon went out and brought in big hitters to take us forward IMHO.

As said emotional decisions in football are dangerous.

Our 3 major football administrators are all dyed in the wool Barca fans (Pep, Txiki and Ferran) all 3 have done this club proud.

I remember the days of Janice running the souvenir shop back at Maine Road, lovely, lovely lady but hardly ideal in the world of retail and marketing, same applied to Bernard Halford, without a doubt a true blue, but a good secretary of a major football club?.

It's important to have good and quality people that understand the club ie Sumberbee and Danny Wilson, but incompetence is no good for anyone.

Well said mate. I remember going to the ticket office in about 1990 and thought I’d have a change from the Kippax to go in the North Stand. I don’t know which block to go in so the person on the desk dug out a season card book from a box. I went in the ground to find my seat was broken and I couldn’t even lean on the back of the seat because of the head heights barbed wire. That’s how we were treated in the “good old days”.

I don't want to speak ill of people who can no longer retort but I could tell you many stories about Bernard and the ticket office that would blow the lid off his 'reputation'

He knew exactly what was going down at the club at that time with PJ Swales and Co.

It would be nice to have City fans in top positions but it's not always possible. At least we should have football fans though.
Gary Cook understood football and football supporters, I'm fairly sure Khaldoon "got us" very soon after joining; wearing a 61 shirt in a charity match soon after that game at the swamp being an example.

I agree with you Ged. There seems to be a number of passionate football fans running the Club (even if their first love isn’t City).

FWIW, I know several Blue families who’ve taken advantage of the cheaper tickets for kids and it’s given them a real lift.

That’s not fair, she’s as much a Blue as any of “us”.
Oh, I agree. Just my perception on the few times that we met. She is very much ‘One of us’ but had to see things from a different perspective, more at a strategic level where we look at the here and now and complain at every single negative article, leading to calls of ‘What the fuck is she doing’.

There‘s definitely no malice on my part.
