Video refs

Why not just have video refs watching the game in the background and when they see a significant incorrect decision then they buzz the ref to let him know to stop the game and pull it back to where the incident occurred? Even give them a mic to let them know what they'd missed.

I disagree with one challenge per game, especially with the number of errors that take place these days in each game

Absolutely spot on - there are so many in every game that one would be totally insufficient.

Don't be stupid. If video refs are introduced, that's one more way that the FA, UEFA and FIFA can't help their favourite teams.

Absolutely spot on 100%. Hell, we might even get a fair crack of the whip and that's something that the FA and commercial pressures simply won't allow to happen.

The sooner it comes in, the better. I suspect we'd benefit from it more than most.

Personally not in favour of it.

The stated advantage is that you get the right calls made. But, in fact, it falls on even that hurdle. To avoid terminally disrupting the flow of the game would have to curtail its use (e.g. 3 calls like in other sports, only penalty box incidents, etc). Once you make that concession it's stated purpose is knackered.

Plus, you just get further subjectivity by introducing a 4th official review - it just becomes their flawed and subjective view of an incident.

Why not just get the goal line assistants in to Premier League like it is in World Cups? Most of the major contentious decisions are in the box. Premier League can afford it and then we'll see more big decisions made correctly

video replays for penalty decisions has got to come in, that was a disgraceful decision last night. the game is now to quick for referees, i can't think of no good reason not to introduce it. more often than not the ball goes dead, so a minute with a video ref is no big deal. somewhere along the lines of "is there any reason not to award a penalty" along the lines of a rugby ref

This would be my main concern with it (i.e. that it ends up not solving much at all). The laws of the game are so vague that most incidents can be argued either way. We see this every week with players, managers, pundits, fans and even qualified referees all disagreeing with each other over the same incident.

The clearcut, 100% certain fouls are relatively few and far between, and while I agree it's imperative that something is done to make sure those decisions are right, the majority of the time we'd just be introducing yet another layer of subjectivity that's open to abuse.

The problem lies in the laws of the game, something that isn't such an issue in the likes of tennis, cricket and rugby.

Terrible idea, nearly every decision would be opinion based, Sane handball, Sterling first penalty shout, 2 people watching the same clip would come to different conclusions, it works in other sports as it deals in facts and even then some decisions take several minutes to make
