Vieira - 'we could have done better'

“Has this season been a success? No.”
“The aim this season was to retain the title and do better in the Champions League so, no, you cannot say our season was a success.
“We’re in the cup final so that is a good way of saving the season. But we had a team you would expect to do better. We could have done better.”

Not said an awful lot wrong there, to be honest. The league campaign has been inconsistent, and Stevie Wonder can see that our European campaign was a desperate letdown. He said the cup final is a way of saving the season (true), and he said that they expected to do better (true, and the right attitude).

A number of reasons this season didn't live up to expectations. A big one being our poor injury record. We had one of the best, if not the best injury record last season, yet look at us this season. We probably have 3 times as many injuries already than last season. Sergio has been injured on and off throughout this season, Silva, Nasri and Kompany too. Micah for more than 2/3 of this season compared to last year when he was instrumental in many matches to snatch a win from a draw.

Strikers have been wasteful this season compared to last year. We still create a lot of chances but they are not being put away.

After 32 games last season we had 71 points this we have 68 massive disaster credit due to the scum

Fair point. But an honest question; do you feel we've pushed on in the manner we should have this season, having made the ultimate breakthrough last May? To me, it feels like we rested on our laurels (maybe expected an easier campaign this time out, and underestimated the vermin?). The fault seems to lay further up the pecking order than RM; the transfer window last summer was a major letdown. If RVP wanted to go to the vermin rather than to us, so be it. There's not a lot anyone can do about that. But the quality of player we did bring in was underwhelming. Anyway; write off this season (in the PL anyway) and hope for a better summer this time around.

I'm surprised it's that close, although I guess we've another 6 games to win to keep that deficit at 3. At the start of the season I said that if we maintained last years points tally we'd win the league, I guess I didn't think they were capable of doing what they have done.

But only 3 difference is a lot better than I thought.

No I don't think we have pushed on at all and it's disappointing. But listening to the media and some of our so called fans claiming the season is an unmitigated disaster is ott. According to one commentator last night we are limping over the line, the same week we beat scum and Chavs

Even passing last years points tally(90,91 points)probably wouldnt of been enough to retain the title.

Last season was a dream come true for City fans...

We thrashed the scum at the swamp and we won the prem in the best way possible that will never be seen again....

However some fans think we should do even better this season and because we havent they want the manager out, the same manager who give us the dream season last year. Unbelievable..
