Vieira - 'we could have done better'

To be honest even if we'd have had a season like we experienced last season it's doubtful if we'd have won the title , the rags have been very consistent ..... to be 13 points , and six wins ahead of us , is impressive , and it would have taken tremendous consistency from us to have stopped them.

But whilst i agree with Viera in that we will have fallen short of the targets we set ourselves at the outset of the season , if we can pick up a trophy like the FA Cup it makes the season worthwhile ..... as does a second placed league finish.

There is a big difference between a disapointing season and a disaster. Cl was a disater let's be honest. To come away with only 2 points, no wins and last place is not even close to good enough. We were played off the pitch in almost every game. We were fortunate that Hart played out of his mind or we'd have lost at Madrid 6-2. We were awful in the CL.

The league we have been uninspired through most of the season. Yes we have had good results but we've not played well in most of the games and that's what Im disapointed about. If we had played like we did last year and lost the title it wouldn't bother me much. If someone else is just better then you have to tip your cap. IMO United are not better than us and that's what's disapointing. If we had not thrown away the draw at home the gap would only be 10 with a game in hand. So that awful performance at Southampton and the mediocre performance a QPR really drives me crazy. The gap could be down to 4 points with a game in hand. The pressure would really be on the Rags and having choked the title away last year their nerve would really be tested. We let them off the hook this year clear and simple.

Last season was a dream come true for City fans...

We thrashed the scum at the swamp and we won the prem in the best way possible that will never be seen again....

However some fans think we should do even better this season and because we havent they want the manager out, the same manager who give us the dream season last year. Unbelievable..
I don't think that's quite fair though, is it? Most peoples' gripes aren't so much that we went out of the CL and won't win the league - it's the manner in which it's happened:

- embarrassing performances in the CL (there's simply no other gloss that can be put on this, IMV)

- a limp title defence with many very, very disappointing performances and, therefore, results.

I say all this as a staunch defender of Mancini, on the whole. But there's no sense in denying the reality that this season has been very, very disappointing. I doubt Mancini himself would claim otherwise - although he might throw the odd spurious justification out there.

Excellent post.

CL was awful. We were fortunate to get 3 points.

CC was awful.

League has been ok with some awful performances along the way.

FA cup excellent.

Marks out of 10 overall?.......6.5

Having said that I love going to wembley and if Mancini keeps taking us there and winning any kind of silverware then I am happy with him.

Each season should involve team strengthening and general improvement on the previous season. We haven't done that. But considering that we haven't done that, we've had a bloody good season, let's not make a mistake about that!

It should be the aim to improve each season, but it's not sustainable long term.

BF at the swamp has had 11 seasons where they have gone backwards as far as points in the league go, and 13 where they have gone forward.

IFwe had beat utd at home ,the gap would now be 7 points .with a game in hand, and them to play chelsea and arse, all ifs i know, but it highlights what fine margins, come into play, also the best bit of the interview,is the comment about new signings ,onwards and upwards.
