Not that I am not saying is wasn't islamic terrorists, but their was a similar attempt last year in the German city of Halle by a right wing terror group that planned a masacre, same MO and target.

Doesn't matter really who it is though tbf they are awful cunts either way.
 
As a city that has endured terrorist attacks, we should be showing solidarity with the people of Vienna. offering our condolences and reaffirming that terrorism of any kind, by anybody, in any place, should never ever be tolerated.

Terrorism is a crime against humanity because it threatens the very fabric of a decent humane society.

Should we be able to discuss they reasons for the terrorism? Denounce those responsible and the flawed reasons behind their ideologies?

Seemingly not. I'm not convinced the head in the sand, pretend it never happened approach will have any success in defeating it and I'm 100% certain had it been any other reason last night or ideology behind it we would be discussing it right now on here as a world breaking story.

Yes of course.

If we don't learn why these acts are carried out then we will never defeat them. It might be uncomfortable and there will be a lot of home truths that people may not accept, but yes they should be discussed, but discussed without vitriol and prejudgement. Straight away though you consider the whole ideology to be flawed, rather than the terrorists interpretation of the ideology being flawed. By discussing it then we can reason why it happened and continues to happen and maybe one day stop it happening.

The religion that must never be named is very much discussed in the specialist literature authored by those who have studied the phenomenon up close and personal, and whose research is regarded as authoritative. And it is very important that it is studied, as what you will find in that literature is sometimes counter-intuitive.

I also had to name the religion frequently when I taught Islam and its relationship to terrorism at secondary school level to classrooms of pupils that included Muslim and non-Muslim students. I just taught what the most respected sources were saying and was never required to dilute the content of my course materials and lessons.

Anyway, here is what Peter Neumann had to say about the phenomenon a couple of years ago in his book Radicalized.
