But they should be proud of that achievement. It’s a fantastic part of their history and they are lucky that they have that. What it shouldn’t be though is a tool to have a go at city fans with. Then it’s just gloating and rams home the fact that this was 40 years ago and the majority that sing it to us weren’t even born and have no affiliation with that team.

In all honesty and deep down they know that it’s jealousy towards us. For a long time they were on the cusp of breaking into the champions league. Then we come along and take their best players and bam before you know it they have been relegated.

I mean no one used to sing where’s your European cup to arsenal or Blackburn.

Having blow up European cups is just small time and quite frankly a little bit embarrassing. There can be a lot said for modesty.

Hopefully Forest fans won’t go down this route as in my contact with them they seem a bright bunch and don’t need to go down that route. I’m hoping they will rise above it but sometimes it’s the younger Daniel dyer mob that get a bit giddy and start these chants off.

In fairness, Villa were a big club at one time. And they would have got bigger crowds if women had been able to get their bustles through the turnstiles.
