Villa (H) Post Match Thread

Why are blues still posting that they would be pissed off if that goal was given against us ?
Mings should have headed it clear simple. He didnt he looked round, saw Rodri there but still controlled it with his chest, he then took a second touch before Rodri tackled him.
It shows how stupid BT are, they employ an ex ref who doesnt know the rules. They also employ a drug cheat who hates City so much he still insists it was offside well just because, it is not fair Mister.
As for the second goal, they are given every week as penalties, people are only moaning because it was given for City.

Fuck 'em.
And Bernardo still had to beat 2 players before getting his shot away.
Super goal.

Superb goal by Silva. I did not see any reason for it not to be given and still cannot understand how anyone could think there was an offside.

Grealish caused damage to KDB and Walker but only a few flashes in play. A good player but snide. He is getting a way with diving and dirty play but it will catch up. Players and officials remember these things.

Grealish will become the next Scholes, getting away with loads of snidey fouls and bad tackles as all the pundits will say, "He's not that type of player, he just can't tackle." Well that is unless he signs for us.

Good post, that's been annoying me as well! We didn't 'get away with one'. Rodri didn't challenge Mings when the ball was in the air, he brought it down and it began a new phase of play. The rules are quite clear on it.

If Villa fans are pissed off that Peter Walton didn't know the rules when it first happened and got their hopes up that it was somehow dodgy, they should complain to BT. In fact they'd be doing us all a favour and if they get that idiot taken off the live coverage.

I see Tom Heaton thinks the offside law should be changed after City's first goal on Wednesday, which "was a hard one to take". It is easy for those who believe they have been wronged to demand a change to the existing laws but this is often a very dangerous attitude. Heaton's attitude has at least moved on to acceptance that allowing the goal was the only possible course of action within the rules but it seems that the goal "was a hard one to take" simply because Tyrone Mings (who had had an excellent game up to that point) dropped one hell of a clanger. The present law does give Mings, and everyone else, clear guidance on what can and cannot happen in those circumstances and this incudes all of the seven Villa players in their own half and looking at Mings. Why did none of them scream at him to leave it or clear it?

But we are ignoring the danger of fiddling with the laws and actually making things worse in a fit of pique. This is a disease of our time. There was near unanimous approval for the introduction of VAR to make sure decisions were right. Has it done that.... Then there was agreement that VAR would ensure that offside decisions given were really offside. But can your nose really be offside? The belief now is that mathematical measurement of offside leads to ludicrous decisions and really does make the law an ass. But what is the alternative... And then there is handball! There was widespread discontent when defenders, spreading arms and legs like a goalkeeper, dashed towards attackers trying to shoot or cross and were not penalised when blocking either with an arm. This was "accidental" - but are we any nearer knowing exactly what does constitute "deliberate" handball. So whatever the attitude of some of our fans or anyone else's the present law gives clear guidance to everyone on what the law is and on Wednesday there was no question as to whether the case met the mathematical requirements of the law or not. The referee applied the law in force and that is why VAR did not become involved.
