Villa return some of their 1700 allocation - on OS now

People may moan about it on football forums but whilst there are people still willing to pay £40+ for a ticket then club's will continue to charge it.

If fans decided enough was enough then prices would come down.

I am at my limit with my season ticket, if it goes any higher i will have to give up and to be honest it wouldn't bother me one bit. Better atmosphere and "matchday experience" in my living room or pub.

I can understand why some of you are taking the piss, I'm sure some of our fans would if the roles were reversed. However it says everything about the state of modern football when a club of our size can't sell 2800 let alone 1700 tickets for a saturday 3pm kick off just up the road. It's nothing to do with 'loyalty', it's everything to do with price and the fact we've got hardly any chance of winning. Paying £40 when you know more than likely your team will lose is hardly appealing. Yes I know we charge you £43 but that's not the fans' fault, we don't decide the prices. Away supporters are a dying breed unless you're rich or support a successful team that wins most weeks. Sunderland only took 1200 to Everton last week, that wasn't even £40 but they knew b efore the game kicked off they probably wouldn't win. It's not just the ticket you have to pay for either, if I came to yours saturday it would cost me over £100 once I'd brought my lad's ticket, train tickets, beer, food. That's a lot of money and an expensive day for 90 minutes of football that we will more than likely lose. I simply can't justify paying that money with Christmas around the corner and when we're playing in a competition where the best we can achieve is about 12th. Its got to the stage where I and many more of our fans are having to pick and choose which away games are the best because it's too expensive to attend them all. We took 3000 to West Ham, 3200 to Southampton, 3300 to Swindon, 4000+ to Fulham yet we took 1400 to Sunderland, 1100 to Newcastle, 1500 to Tottenham. Emphasising it's all about having to pick and choose which aways you attend, rather than it being about loyalty. Apparantly we've already sold 3000 of our 4100 allocation for Norwich because it's £25 and it's in a competition we've got a chance of winning, simple as that. Still give me 1500 of our fans stood singing all game over the like of Everton who take 3000 and sit in silence.

good post mate, genuine fans have empathy with the situation, anyone with half a brain knows that villa are a proper club with genuine support.

im not going to have a go at the villa fans on here, but40 notes isnt bad, i paid 49 ntes at fulham + 35 for train+ 6 for tube + 20 for beer and 15 for food, now im no way rich, but you just got to do it, right.

Now you've put forward your case so eloquently, I stand corrected. Your example for 1 person for 1 match should be scaled up for all football fans for every match. It was there right in front of me all along. I feel a bit silly now.

The empty seats at our home games are probably people like myself who keep my season ticket going, even though i miss loads of games due to being away with work.I used to lend it to mates, but getting it back and/or getting the money they promised but never delivered was too much hassle so i just keep my card.I tried that bloody seat exchange thing but gave up as it never got sold on there either!

The fact that Fulham charged more doesn't make £40 not extortionate in itself.

For home fans I don't think £40 is extortionate for one off games

For away fans though you've already paid your season-ticket, and then you've got to pay £40 plus travel, food etc. And factor in the other side of it as well, the un-competitive nature of the League. How many teams go to City, Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea etc and take points? Very few.

The Emirates, Old Trafford etc are always full. In fact Premiership attendances are very high so the problem is not cost per se, but there is a specific set of largely cost related problems for Away fans

1) Fans of top clubs get massively ripped off with Category A prices
2) All away fans have season-tickets and have to pay again on top
3) For the majority they know they will travel and get beat

Easy and relatively cheap solution. Cap away ticket prices at £30

This problem repeats itself - though not so bad - for Cup games. Season ticket holder are loathe to shell out another £30 for tickets

And clubs have already reacted their by lowering prices for Cup games. It works to an extent.

I go on a lot of other club's forums, Marvin. And on Arsenal's I see a lot of posts saying that there's anything from 5000 to 7000 empty seats at their games against lower teams. They just make up the attendance figures there, I think.

United are even advertising on the radio for tickets against Liverpool.

Arsenal probably do the same as us...count S/T holders if they dont turn up.
City fans I well remember boycotted Bolton not too long ago when they charged nearly 40 pounds which was picked up by MOTD.

Wny dont fans in this country do what Schalke fans did when they protested about the club increasing their prices(as told by Ian Cheeseman in King of the Kippax)The fans kept quiet for 19mins and 04 seconds as in their name during a game and then
sang as
usual for the rest of the game. The fans got their own way and the club kept the prices at 20 pound, this wasnt that long ago either.A total boycott of away fans not buying tickets?
