Downing isn't a bad player and, given how much it costs to bring in English players, £12m isn't extortionate. I still rate Ashley Young far higher. They could swicth Young to the right wing, which would displace Milner, but I reckon the safe money is on Young being sold, possibly to the rags, or maybe Chelsea.

I agree , it makes me laugh the rag like critisism of anything un-city related that's appeared on this forum. Those who went to the game at COMS's last season saw an accomplished midfield display from Downing , rarely giving the ball away and looking a threat in what was a terrible team low on confidence. I ilke O'neil too.

Dont rate Downing especially at £12m, I dont think he even scored a goal last season, If O'Neill wants a top 4 spot then there not the sort of players he should be spening big money on.
