Villa v Maccabi Tel Aviv - away fans banned | MTA confirm they will refuse any allocation for safety reasons (p26)

I think that is very easy to say, as an outsider looking in, but a lot more difficult if you are responsible for the publics safety and have responsibility to make that decision. I would not want to be the person charged with making that decision.
Yeah, that's fair enough. Looks like there's a good chance the decision is going to be reversed now, so if it does kick off then they could justifiably blame the politicians who pushed for it. The fixture is probably going to attract even more extremists on both sides now, many of whom won't care about the actual match.

How do you know most sensible Villa fans are appalled by this? Genuine question.
I have spoke to three this morning who are also in supporters branches and go on their boards and the majority are saying this. There has been a Villa fan on this thread saying it's a stupid decision hasn't there?

Not sure when you last went to a match but tragedy chanting carries a 3 year ban these days and I'm sure anyone caught smashing someone's face with a brick would get a ban so stop chatting shit

And from what I've read on the main Villa forum this morning, most of them agree with the decision so for you to say that most sensible Villa fans agree with the decision is, frankly, bollocks. I doubt you know many - if any - Villa fans. You're just bringing your blatant bias from the Middle East thread into this discussion
Individual fans will be banned not the whole fanbase!

But fans aren't banned for singing about Heysel, Hillsborough, smashing faces with bricks, anti semitic chants against Spurs, telling opposition fans that they'll never make the station, imitating getting stabbed to wind up Leeds fans etc etc. The Gaza MP has stirred up division, most sensible Villa fans are appalled by the decision. And those of us who are old enough can remember how the WMP used to police games, so it's bollocks that they think less than 1k away fans are an issue. It's the locals who will be the problem and I don't mean ordinary Villa fans

Bury ordered to play two home games behind closed doors over fan behaviour

Bury have been ordered to play two home games behind closed doors for offensive comments made by supporters during a match at Gigg Lane.

The punishment, and a £350 fine, were imposed following the incidents at a North West Counties Premier Division game with West Didsbury & Chorlton.

The charge related to alleged racist and homophobic language and behaviour.

Bury said in a statement, external that they intend to appeal against the "excessive" punishment.

The Shakers, who said they "accepted the facts of the incident", claimed that the comments were only made by two fans at the game in September.

From 2024. The appeal was rejected.

So on that occasion, home and away fans alike lost out. I must have missed Keir Starmer and co's brave statements railing against this at the time.

You are missing the point. Maccabi fans are being banned because the police can't guarantee their safety from the locals. Ajax were banned because of previous clashes with Marseille and when other Dutch clubs travelled there, we all know why the old firm ban each other.

Maccabi Tel Aviv do not have a reputation for trouble where they travel despite all the idiots on here claiming they do. Less than 1,000 were expected to attend and the majority would have been British based Jews who would have no requirement for spending time in the city. They are being banned as the locals can't be trusted to behave.
They were acting violent in Amsterdam last year before they were attacked, and once again chanting "death to Arabs" will lead to problems in some places, and if you can't see that you're an idiot.

I’ve not seen that so can’t comment about the Villa fan on here. There was a poster on here who said he’d been on a Villa forum and most of them were happy with the decision.

Let’s get it right. They’ve been banned as the police fear the locals won’t behave and will look to inflict violence on the away fans. There’s no uno reverse, gotcha, etc., to it. There’s a given reason and that’s it.

Disgraceful.
You don't think its anything to do with thousands of their fans singing Death to Arabs when they march to the grounds and inside the stadium?

Looks like Starmer is going to get it overturned.

He deserves all the shit when it kicks off.
Yep they will get targeted now anywhere and it will be all the police’s fault, or that’s how it will be framed, if they want to let them in put them all in one spot, march them to the stadium keep them behind for 3 hours them March them back to the airport, they fucking do it to us abroad and no one gives a shit. The police can’t win here, if they didn’t do this and they got attacked, well why didn’t you ban them, they do ban them you get this, they shouldn’t even be in the competition the Russians aren’t allowed so neither should they.

We're English...we know about being banned because of OTHER teams. Big blanket ban for us all back in the late 80s, remember?
The West Midlands police can't be arsed with all the potential trouble....they have enough problems being in Birmingham as it is.
People calling it antisemitic are just liars.... and they know that.
Starmer is a cowardly fraud. Shameful.

I think Eds has been caught up in IDF training and missed quite a bit of football.
