Vincent Kompany - 2016/17 performances

One of the few positives today, no injury & performed well. Hopefully the start of a run for him.
 
Thought his performance was rather rusty today. His defending was passable, his distribution was wayward, and he picked up a card for lunging in. It's clear to see that he's going to take time adapting and getting up to speed with the way Guardiola expects the defence to play. For him, it must be frustrating that he's having to gain fitness and experience in game time, having missed pre season, and his task is not made easier by the fact that we're now trying out different systems just as he makes his return.

Agree. Didn't look at all comfortable on the ball.

But, injury, after injury, after injury... Unfortunately, I think that Kompany is more than likely done as a player - I hope I'm wrong.

If not, perhaps Kompany can move into a managerial position - he seems to be a leader and as a great player, can command respect.

Yeah... he'll manage a side in future... and they'll be hard to beat, 'cos he knows a thing or two about defending.
 
played as well as anyone and better than some.........a much needed positive in a day when there weren't many (from our game at least ;-) )
 
Understandably a bit rusty but fantastic to see the skipper back...and leave the field in one piece.

Must have been shitting himself and didn't do badly at all in the circumstances. In fact better than many.
