Vincent Kompany - 2016/17 performances

This run (6) is now his longest run of consecutive games since 14/15, January-March 2015 where he started 9 consecutive games.

Whisper it, but could we be back to business as usual with Vinny? He'll never play 50 games a season, but maybe he's left the last 2 years behind? Fingers crossed and knock on wood etc.

Still one of the best centre halves in the game

We are so much poorer without him

Unbelievably assured performance. Everything was going so well that it almost felt inevitable when he was hobbling after that challenge. Feared the worst, but so glad that he could continue.

Another top performance. His passing through midfield has been very impressive too, Pep must be taking note.

Outstanding from our captain tonight.

Rondon will still be in his pocket now!

The tackle in which he hurt himself isn't getting anywhere near enough love as it should. The man's a colossus. Not just his defending but the calmness and assurance that flows throughout the rest of the back four is so evident. His passing isn't half bad either..

When they scored tonight, my lad said 'where the hell where our defence'?' and I said in all seriousness - he went off a while ago..... says it all

Couldn't concentrate on the rest of the first half worrying about vinny after seeing Stones warming up and him limping, cheered me right up seeing him out for the 2nd half.

I honestly think he's worth keeping no matter what. If he only played five games next season we'd still be far better defensively in those five games than any games he doesn't play. Absolute no brainer for me.

As soon as he went off, the usual suspects looked exactly like the same lily livered no marks who have helped us win fuck all.

I hope Pep is on this.

I like to think that is because we were 3-0 up and players had their mind on the Zabeleta tribute

That said, he was brilliant and he raises the standards on the pitch - it was interesting that he handled Rondon with easy but when Otemedi tried half way through the first half, Rondon won the only ball he won all night

I don't really know what a 'Pep player' is, but if Kompany isn't one, then the definition needs looking at!

I'm looking forward to him playing 25+ league games next season

If we can keep Vinny fit next season and get 25/30 games out of him then I think we'll walk the league, the man is just a monster of a centre half. Not only that his organisation and leadership are desperately needed in this team because we haven't got as many as in previous seasons.

He was perfect today. The positional sense, his technique unrivaled.
Beautiful to watch when he is on form.

His passing game is top notch, and can get physical with the best of them.

We need him to stay fit. Next season is the season I can feel it!.

Can someone reassure me that he was only subbed off to give him that moment with Zabba, and to give Pablo the armband?

The way he ran off that injury in the first half was one of the highlights of the season for me. I'm sure every single City fan feared the worst so to see him continue into the second half was great. He's as close to irreplaceable as we have when you consider the whole package so if we can get another couple of years out of him that would be priceless.
