Vincent Kompany - 2016/17 performances

It'd be a huge bonus if we could get Kompany back playing regularly. Him and Stones would be an outstanding centre half pairing.
If Kompany gets back, it's absolutely massive news for City and the rest of the Premiership. Looks like Phase II of the City revolution kicks in after the international week when Gundogan, Sane and Kompany will be available.

Silva isn't being left out.
Kompany's problems with Mancini started when he went to see him over something Mancini was doing which the players weren't happy with. Vincent made a constructive suggestion and Mancini basically told him to fuck off and mind his own business. Vincent wasn't impressed, particularly as it was done in front of the other coaching staff.

From what I've heard about Pep, he would have listened, explained what he was doing and why and, if Kompany's suggestion had any merit, might even have incorporated it. If not, he'd have told him why.

Also Zab was another who had his say about Mancini and he's still there. I really don't think it's anything to do with that, more with their attitude since then.

The club listened to them and bowed to player power. Then brought in someone who was more "holistic" to steady the ship until Pep arrived.
After the players appeared to down tools for Pellegrini like they did for Mancini, I wonder if it left certain people at the club feeling a little betrayed.
They may have listened but if Mancini had showed some willingness to work with Begiristain & Marwood then they might still have backed him over the players. Unfortunately he showed the same disdain to the people who paid his wages as he did to his players.

So it's a bit silly to say that players who don't do what their manager wants should be shown the door yet take an entirety different view of a manager who won't do as his boss wants.

No one wants the tail wagging the dog but equally no one wants the dog attacking everyone.

Stony mate, this is just what I am trying to say. It's not just the one manager. It gets to be a culture within the dressing room and if it isn't stopped it becomes a cancer. Chelsea are another club that seem to suffer from the same phenomenon.

Mancini was absolutely the right man at the right time but, like Mourinho, they seem to thrive in an atmosphere of confrontation and tension. That isn't sustainable in the long term because they end up either pissing off the guys above them or the guys below them or, more likely, both. As captain, Kompany's bound to be at the business end of any disharmony amongst the players.

Mancini no doubt sealed his own fate, but the players did down tools for him and did complain about him. Khaldoon was friends with Mancini, it can't have been nice to listen to all your top players slagging your friend off and refusing to work with him. Then when they down tools again under Pellegrini but without the excuse of Pellegrini being a **** it must have seriously pissed him off.

Interesting about Kompany and Mancini. I remember hearing a few years ago that Kompany used to get the defenders together for weekly meetings, not entirely sure what was involved but at the time him and Lescott were a fantastic partnership so it couldn't have exactly hurt. I really hope Kompany can get fit and show Pep why he deserves to be in the team.

If Kompany can get himself fit I have a feeling Kompany and Stones could be the best CB pairing we've had since Kompany and Lescott. Stones's with the ability to bring the ball forward and Kompany as the leader and organiser. Although with the added bonus that Kompany is also good on the ball.

Sorry to dampen the mood, but I can't see kompany staying fit for a long period of time. If he stays fit along with Sergio, we win the league.

That's probably what everyone thinks, but the more work he does, the stronger he gets, and he's come back is on target. The medical people said September at the time he had the op, so that sounds like everything has gone to plan.
