They were managing a more mechanical injury, to the knee joint. They could still train, if only in a swimming pool and enough injections to get through a game.
Muscles are different. They can just go at any time and never regain full solidity once damaged.
I damaged my calf and weeks later it popped again just stepping out the front door. Another time just walking. Vinnie has done so many muscles that one is bound to go again. Especially in the rigours of a game. I think that’s what we are seeing with these early game issues.
Basically he can be at full fitness and one of his repeatedly damaged calf muscles can go at any time.
I think you are hitting the nail on the head, I feel sorry for VK, his determination to be still playing his admirable, it must be soul destroying for him to keep pulling muscles at random after working hard to get back up to match fitness, his gym workouts always look intense, so it does seem that it is the little extra stretch or strain that you put in for the tackle is the cause of his problems, 31 is no age to retire in the modern game :(
Give overNice to read some positive and understanding comments in this thread. Some of the childish and disrespectful comments about a guy who loves our club and has always given it everything are frankly disgusting
