Vincent Kompany

New players around him and a new formation, a few mistakes are expected really, give it some time for the formation to bed in and the players to gel and all will be good.

I love threads like this. He was playing alongside a new right back and a new man on his left, he had a decent game besides misjudging a shot that swerved all over the place and Joe Hart should of been better prepared for (even though it was Kompanys fault)

Vinny has put himself in the spotlight due to his outstanding ability and performances in recent years.

Juventus have great defenders, but we saw last night that all players are culpable at some stage on a pitch, at any given time.

Plenty of people tell me Thiago Silva is seen as the best centre-back in the world, but he was error prone throughout the Olympics, some of his defending, was cringeworthy.

We look through rose-tinted glasses. I am just about old enough to consider it a privilege to have seen Franco Baresi and Maldini in their pomp.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, they were both fucking incredible.

However, both always had an error in them.

Vinny is professional enough to know what levels he is currently attaining and the great thing about great players, they don't need telling to up their games.

And to add, Hansen and Lawrenson are the best I have seen on these shores in my time watching opponents against us.

Both were classy, both produced plenty of embarrassments.

ridiculous thread we are barely a few games into a new season judge all the players at the end of the season not begginining ffs get a grip man.
He doesn't need to grip on to anything though.

Is there a rule somewhere that states that nobody can mention when someone isn't playing well, ever? Because any time a thread pops up with a mere suggestion of questioning of some players or the manager and loads of people flap and their posts often end with the three letters F, F and S.

This isn't fucking RAWK, everyone is entitled to talk about things that aren't just wonderful. This is a forum and anyone is free to have positive and negative threads about them; fans, management team, players... just like any conversation anyone would have down the pub.

And people keep mentioning this isnt RAWK people can say kompanys out of form or what ever they like bit i simply dont agree thats why i said get a grip theres only a few games gone ffs so no offence intended ,just for the poster to look at the bigger picture early days yet.

Agreed. He was imense last season - especially from after the Sunderland game - no playder can sustain that level of performance month in month out. This year, the same as he started last year he is probably at 95%, which is fine by me as when the chips are down at the end of the season you can count on him.
Tuesday was tough, and the times he looked to struggle was against Ronaldo -and I think anyone struggles against him 1 on 1. That said, when we are 3 at the back he and the team look more solid when he is central, but the personnel dictated him being right of 3 late on.

The only way the formation will work is if Clichy and Richards are the wing backs. The other players simply do not have the pace to play there and leave too much space down the sides of the box to be exploited.

It has to be 4 at the back unless both Clichy and Richards are both playing.

Incidentally, these two should always be first choice if 4 at the back also

Fully agree.

The footballer who hasn't made a mistake has yet to be invented.

Barcelona think they are going to get Vincent Kompany.

Ha!
