Vinnie's Goal v Leicester.BBC 5 Live.

I love the Cates video. The goal was a thing of beauty, and the reaction just as good.

I cannot stand her. She doesn't pay any attention whatsoever to the answers given and then just reads the next question which has often been covered in the previous answer. It ends up with pundits repeating themsleves over and over again

Painful

The thought that the iconic Aguero and Kompany moments will never, ever be experienced by united and liverpool fans gives me a warm glow. Delicious.

This isn't somethign I ever thought I'd type but they did win the Champions League in the last second after being outplayed for 85 minutes

No. It was 31 years for them.

I think my main point is that the drama that made both those incidents so iconic was that they were played out in front of capacity home crowds with all the palpable tension that creates and is so essential to those moments.

Also, United's CL win against Bayern was mentioned but that is only iconic to united fans. I think that is because the CL gives every opportunity to certain teams to win it with seedings and draw manipulation for tv. Essentially, it's about the 6-8 teams that win it every year. Some games have more drama than others, true, but it's still formulaic which is why, imo, it will never have the attraction of the PL.

With the inevitable changes in football, following the American proposals, I think the days of a different club winning the PL either by exceptional performance like Leicester or shrewd investment like us, are gone and, if that's right, they can pretend all they like, it will never be the same.
