Vinny joins Anderlecht as player/manager (Simon Davies follows him)

The difference in respect between RAWK and RedCafe is staggering.

RedCafe putting rivalry aside and recognising Kompany as a 'great footballer and leader', 'club legend' etc. and RAWK, well I'm not going to spoil this thread with the utter disrespectful crap from there.
Redcafe has some decent rag posters tbf. RAWK reminds me of two films, one flew over the cuckoo's nest and scum.

I think he had another twelve months left in him but I guess that's how the old saying goes, "Always leave them wanting more". Given his injury history, Kompany knows his body better than anybody else - he's likely spent the last two months asking himself whether he can demand more playing time and produce the same quality for another year, but has failed to come up with an answer.

We'll know more when the second part of his statement is released, but I imagine he watched as Zabaleta and Yaya struggled to maintain their highest levels during their twilight years at City and realised he didn't want the same to happen to him. I worry about our leadership and calmness out on the field without him there, but if we can keep Otamendi or move Fernandinho into the back four then we should be able to do okay.

Gutted to see him leave. Knew it was on the cards, but it is a sad day to see him leave.

A true City legend, a legendary captain, and one of the best defenders in Premier League history.

Thanks for the effort, and memories Vinny.

What a fitting way to go out for a legend.

What a bunch of cvnts they are on RAWK

Legends always move on This Legend has been everything he possibly could be to our club no one could have done more or done it better Vinny will always be part of the fabric of City his and the club’s DNA are mixed together for ever Thank you Vinny and we look forward to the day you return

Gutted cant understand this he proved he was still able to play at the highest level in his last run of games. Surely one more season made sense for all party's. Think he will be missed alot in the dressing room weither he was playing or not. Our best ever player and a true legend.

Knew it when he avoided the question after the title win and then again after the FA cup, he already knew, I just hope he wasn't pushed out effectively, he was still good enough to be first reserve and playing 20-30 games a season, if he was to stay fit for the full season of course.

He will be a huge miss and also does this now mean that Otomendi will be staying?

Gutted but very proud what a player and a true gentleman to have captained our great club for the past 10 years. Good look vinny in everything you do in life from now on. Forever grateful MCFC

Irrelevant ****s at that.

They are fucking crushed inside.

Edit. Before anyone takes offence and my post i picked up by the Liverpool Echo, i used the phrase crushed to explain how they will be feeling about the way we as a club have beat them and totally overshadowed what they and their mates in the media feel is the best side the world has ever known even though they have won fuck all.

Twats!

Ah man, gonna miss him something rotten!

An Open Letter to the fans.
PART 1 of 2

Dear all,

Community Shield Winners!
Back 2 back League Cup Winners!
Back 2 back Champions of England!
FA Cup Winners!

We’ve just seen the close of an incredible season.
My 11th as a Blue.
And I cannot believe I’m writing this but ... also my last as a Blue.
Countless of times have I imagined this day, after all, the end has felt nearby for so many years.
It still doesn’t feel real.
Man City has given me everything.
I’ve tried to give back as much as I possibly could.
How often does someone get the chance to end such an important chapter, representing a club with such great history and tradition, in such a great fashion?

The time has come for me to go now.

As overwhelming as it is, I feel nothing but gratefulness.
I am grateful to all those who supported me on a special journey, at a very special club.
I remember the first day, as clear as I see the last.
I remember the boundless kindness I received from the people of Manchester.

I will never forget how all Man City supporters remained loyal to me in good times and especially bad times. Against the odds you have always backed me and inspired me to never give up.

Sheikh Mansour changed my life and that of all the City fans around the world, for that I am forever grateful. A blue nation has arisen and challenged the established order of things, I find that awesome.
I cherish the counsel and leadership of a good human being, Khaldoon Al Mubarak. Man City could not be in better hands.

It’s cliché to say it but it’s also so true: without my teammates I would have never been here today. We fought many battles together. Side by side. In good times and in bad. So to all of you, from the 2008-2009 squad to today’s domestic Treble winners: I owe you guys!

A special word also to Pep and the backroom staff: you’ve been superb. You’ve followed me through so much hardship. You made me come back stronger every time. Thank you so much.

I also want to use this platform to express the love that I have for my nearest and dearest.
It knows no boundaries. Carla, Sienna, Sire and Kai, the one and only quadruple that matters.
My dad (Pierre), Christel and François, my true Invincibles.
I live with only one regret. I would have loved to take my mother, Jocelyne, to the Etihad, seeing her chant the City songs sat next to my children and wife. I would have wanted her to see me happy, playing the game that I love at a club that I love. Deep down, I know she’s been with us through all this time.

Part 2 of this open letter, about my future, will follow shortly …
Oh man. I’m in floods reading his letter.

Woke up with the song from Oliver going around my head “Who will buy this wonderful feeling?” And now it’s “The Last fucking Post”! Talk about emotional rollercoaster! My wife’s laughing her head off at me!

All I can say is thank fuck we’ve still got Mangala. Get him signed up for another year ASAP.
