Just a blip IMO. Vinny is class and he will be aware that his form has dipped. All top defenders make mistakes if your exposed. It must've been frightening for the central pair to see 5 napoli players maurading forward after our players had given the ball away upfront. But for Joe and lady luck it could've been much worse.

So are defence is poor now? In comparison to last year? Or other teams in the league? And two goals against in a game he didnt play.

He's still the heart and soul of that defence and his presence is crucial.

he has'nt been at his best this season granted, but hes still the best centre half in prem & we're so fortunate to have him

Lescott will be the good one to his left, im sure VK will have noticed all the things you havnt.
I wouldn't say either Vinny or the defense have been poor this season, we have conceded the odd goal but not made masses of errors.
I would agree that neither collectively as a defense or Vinny individually as a player have the defennse been quite as solid. I think it may partly be a concentration thing as there are not the sustained periods of pressure against us except possibly first half at the swamp which we dealt witrh very well or the Bayern match when we were a little more lacklustre.
For me Joleon has looked the most solid this season though Vinny is undoubtedly the better footballer.

Who's worried about conceding.
Teams need to score 3 or 4 just to be getting a point against us!
I'm realistic enough to realise that we ain't gonna be scoring sheds loads of goals every game and that is the time for us to produce clean sheets, to win 1 - 0
