It is, but technique is technique. Lescott couldn't have scored a goal like that against Dagenham & Redbridge U15's. And if the player was closer to Lescott than Pique as you claim, why would the three most progressive managers in the Premier League (Pep, Conte and Klippity) all be interested in buying him?
Chelsea has been linked again, we should really be in for him. A talent like him is quite rare which is why I can understand Soton asking for 60m. He is a monster physically and is also great on ball, can pass, dribble and score, he has it all really. Was in everyone's team of the season pre injury, the only worry is the injury but I'm willing to over look it given his talent.
Would also be a statement signing. IMO we buy him and along with the signings we made we won't have to spend big on the back 5 for at least 3 seasons.

28-1 if you fancy a bet.To me the secrecy surrounding our target coupled with the Southampton/Liverpool situation says it might be VVD. After all the fucking ups in this position VVD would be worth every penny and we wouldn't have to worry again for a long while.

I would stay away if it's anything over £50m.
Is there a better available (or at least achievable if not technically available) CB in the world at the moment? Arguably not. I think he's worth a lot more than people think in the current market.

Then put Stones in there for a back 3 with Walker and Mendy pushing up in the big away games. Very exciting.
