That's funny because I know a fair few people who watch football for a living who think Evans is better than all the CB's we currently have barring Vinny. They find that their view is not rocket science and that most City supporters are absolutely deluded in thinking Evans isn't good enough to play for us.

Costa is unprofessional, and nowhere near fit enough to play for City under Pep (and never has been at any point in his career). He isn't good on the ball which is more important for our forwards than it is for our defenders.

Do you mean by "people who watch football for a living..." the unemployed?

It's quite simple really, for my sins, I watch a lot football and not just us. Based on what I've since Jonny Evans has found his level, VVD is already better and would progress further with better players around him. Not rocket science just my view.

As for Costa, if Sanchez isn't achievable then I'm in. Different to Jesus and Kun, can play better on his own than both, however would probably get targeted by refs even more if he played for us.

A few lads I know who've been United season ticket holders for 10+ years have said Evans would be an excellent signing for us and is better than anyone except Kompany.

Costa wouldn't even get into our squad. He's poison.

If we sign him, I hope their right. Seems strange that United sold him then and only managed to get 6m from West Brom.

From what I've seen he's capable in a side that sits deep. Maybe he'll cope better than I think in a high line defence, he hasn't got any real pace so hopefully his reading and positional sense is excellent.

For the record I only work with a couple of gobshite Rags, they've been laughing their cocks off about the potential signing. However, like most Rags they know fuck all about football.

I am no expert but watch every minute of city and n Ireland and watch a fair few wba (mates with a massive fan) and think Evans is currently better suited to peps style then otamendi. People fail to understand we are finally signing a player based on his ability rather then his potential. Vvd in my opinion was playing at a higher standard then Evans or otamendi but he hasn't played since January who knows what level he will return to and what toil 7 months out has had on his development 70mil is alot of money even for us.

This, is the quite obvious thing which absolutely ridicules the talk of 'experts' who 'know' about Jonny Evans.

It's such absolutely laughable fucking bullshit.

If he was that good, the 'experts' would have fucking fought to sign him from Manchester Utd.

That's Manchester Utd, the club which has been cashing in receiving vastly inflated fees for their shite players, for the last 20 years, can't even get 10 mil, for this bloke all the 'experts' rate so highly.

Why would that be ? Because they didn't fucking rate him, because he was fucking shite.

He has done 'ok' for West Brom. Not 'magnificent' but decent. Better than he was at Utd, where he was fucking shite & a stand in becaue they didn't want to spend anymore big money on central defenders. Finally, they fucked him off & NOBODY PARTICULARLY WANTED HIM.

If he can produce his West Brom form at City, in a totally different kind of team, then he could indeed turn out to be better than Otamendi, who is an attack robot with a faulty guidance system.

But if he plays like he did at the swamp, he will cost us everything.

It is a huge, gamble & imo not one we should be taking. We should be signing world class, or potentially world class players for our central defence.

The "masses" have decreed that he's shite. Nothing is going to change their mind and they're just becoming more and more hysterical with each post so it's probably best to just leave it. If we sign Evans I'm sure they'll all get right behind him which is the important thing.

So why was he allowed to sign for West Brom ?

Only your mates can judge a player, but nobody at any of the top clubs anywhere in europe can ?

Were Bayern in for him ?

Completely different market, also add to the fact United wouldn't have wanted him to move to a rival at that point.

Evans, is 30 years old in January, will cost 30m, 3 year deal makes it 10m a year amortization.

VVD just turned 26, will cost 60m, 5 year deal makes it 12m a year amortization.

Not that big of difference amortization wise but VVD is much better value long term. Add to that Evans has no resale value while VVD has the potential to be one of the best centerbacks in the world.

Honestly can't believe we are getting an old rag centerback that has no pace, yes he's a leader and has expierence but the cons outweigh the pros. VVD is a no brainer, you spend more but are set for years to come.

Terrible planning by the club, mid way through the season we'll have a 31 year old injury prone Kompany, 30 year old Otamendi, and 30 yo Evans, and young Stones.
