He played up front in that match, Terry phelan on left wing, Alfons, Kare and Rocky were looking good in a central 3.

Dutch fans could not believe Vonk was a regular but Alfons wasn't.

A lot of the Kippax stayed behind singing "we're not going no where", as we felt conned we had lost our entrance money. They reduced admission for the rearranged game for the Kippax.

didn't swales send in his hired goons to get rid of us.
He tried, but a few hundred were having none of it. We stayed to what would have been the end of the game, chanting Swales Out and singing City songs, and even started whistling for the referee to blow up[ with five minutes to go.
A fair few joints were being passed around the Kippax that day, to be fair . . .

I remember Tony Coton trying to throttle David Ellery when he stopped the game.

My hero!!!
I thought it was the great Graham Poll who reffed this game. I was working in Aberdeen at the time and we travelled down on the day. Called it off during half time, did he not, so maybe Coton having a go at Ellery was another match.

I was only a kid at the time but if we're talking about the abandoned Ipswich game in the league when we won the replay 2-1 on the day Francis Lee took over then I'm pretty sure it was Ellery who called it off in the first place.

I could be wrong.

When was the Leicester game at Maine Road that got called off? Remember Mark Robins playing for them. Never been so cold and wet at a match.

If that's the game I'm thinking of It wasn't called off but should have been.
We lost one nil, very late goal by Robins I think. Half built Kippax, no roof and the coldest and wettest I think I have ever been.
Ah those were the days!!
