VWs and Cornwall

Ah this takes me back , i spent a lot of time hanging out with surfers in camper vans , oh to be young again

Dont be dissing the cornish , i am related to most of them, lol

Have you seen the price of them? What young people can afford one?

We're seeing it with loads of stuff nowadays. Young people don't have the disposable income to support the businesses they used to. Nightclubs are dying or dead. Music festivals are full of middle-aged people. And apparently Newquay has been taken over by the blue rinse brigade.

So true.
In my local Waitrose a Ginsters Cornish pastie is £2!

Had my '78 T2 Bay for 33 years this July and can honestly say, I love it more than life itself. I'll be keeping it forever.

If that's sad - so be it, The thing you notice when you're driving is that people look and smile , something about byegone days and a sense of freedom thats more image than reality, except for OP of course

Reading John Cooper Clarks autobiog one line made me chuckle about his missus having one which he liked ' cos if we were in a long tailback we were usually right at the front'

My thinking exactly but I still intend to hire one in the next few years and do the NC 500 thing with my navigator and the 2 dogs.....Having said that we looked at getting a few months back but ended up renting a cottage for 5 of us for longer and cheaper with non of the associated fuel, running and site costs.
I can see why some people (not me) would hire one for a one off experience as you are thinking of doing, but actually owning and running one is up there with buying a static caravan on a site.
