I'm usually a Terrence Malick fan, and to be fair to him some of the shots were beautiful (as always), but he tried to tell too many different stories in one film, ultimately ending in telling no complete narrative. The battle scene was quite excellent, but that's all the film really was. For too long, he focused on the juxtaposition of the serenity of nature and the iniquity of man, and tried to attach some philosophical insight to the whole event. Some great scenes but it felt incomplete.
Anyway, my favourite would have to be Saving Private Ryan.
