Was good - but nowhere near Souness class.
Controversial opinion alert coming up but for me, the biggest crime with the Haaland Snr assault wasn’t the tackle itself, but the utter fucking shithouse behaviour of Alfie’s so called teammates. Not one of them went near Keane afterwards. Not one.
If one of ours had done that to Beckham or Scholes, Keane would have broken their legs before they had chance to get sent off.
Proper captain, best central midfielder of his generation.
Our team in those days was full to the brim of likeable cowards.
That’s a great post to be fair. Imagine Haaland Jnr now? He’s right at it when there’s any beef against our players.Controversial opinion alert coming up but for me, the biggest crime with the Haaland Snr assault wasn’t the tackle itself, but the utter fucking shithouse behaviour of Alfie’s so called teammates. Like the use of the word “pal” when responding about the Dog wanking **** very appropriateHe’s a dog wanking **** pal
They had competition from Arsenal for about 3 years maximum.
And after Arsenal went unbeaten, the next season they went to OT and we saw the most blatant cheating done by a referee we've ever seen. That game was pure corruption. See my original "cheated" comment.
Giggs used to keep fit by jumping over the back fence of other people’s gardens. To be fair I think Scholes was a genuinely skilled technical footballer. Beckham was overrated, Giggs' ability was 99 percent due to being unusually fast for a footballer in his generation.
Souness was an animal. (In a good way). I’d love him in our side but he wouldnt get past the ten minute mark in any game these days sadlyWas good - but nowhere near Souness class.
Its more to do with the Cities rather than the teamsThat rag v dipper rivalry is way overrated. Have they ever went neck and neck in a title race.
That's what I was thinking chum.Like the use of the word “pal” when responding about the Dog wanking **** very appropriate
Players like Souness and Keane wouldn't survive with modern refs and var in the same way Elvis didn't survive extra large big mac meals.Souness was an animal. (In a good way). I’d love him in our side but he wouldnt get past the ten minute mark in any game these days sadly
Brilliant.Players like Souness and Keane wouldn't survive with modern refs and var in the same way Elvis didn't survive extra large big mac meals.
They were epic players of their era but the game changed.
I don't think he's overrated generally. I do think he overrates himself, as he seems to feel entitled to criticize anything that moves when his CV is "very good footballer, failed manager, arguably the tallest midget among the big TV pundits." You'd think he cured cancer from the way he goes on.
Plus we didnt ever have the refs "Helping" us along like the rags did all through there success :-)He was a great player for united but it’s a different era and you have to understand the context which he’s being judged
The premier league was probably only the third or fourth best league in Europe back then and united underperformed in the champions league based on their dominance in England, they only reached the CL final once in his whole career there
That whole period for united is overrated , only having Arsenal as a challenger from 98-04
Compare that to our era, where we’ve had at least three other teams challenging us for the title and we have been very good in Europe as well
He wouldn’t get in our first xi now but he’d be a decent backup for Rodri
