That match was probably on a par performance wise, just didnt have the 3 injury time goals which gave the gloss to sunday's win.
I think we even went a goal down in that one as well after a mistake by Tony Book. That was the game where we leap-frogged them into second and set us up for the title.cibaman said:I think the 3-1 derby win in '68 was greater because it came so close to the end of season and hence had a much greater impact.

Result of the decade in world football.
Dozens and dozens of games were more important and more crucial than Sunday. It was great, it will go down in folklaw but every single final we've won was much bigger and better than Sunday's derby, even the semi-finals to get to them finals. Every single crucial promotion promotion games. Newcastle away in 1968 is a million times bigger than Sunday's 6-1. To think this derby is our greatest ever win makes me think you're getting a bit carried away, you don't know our history, you're messing about, or you're just thinking very small time!pride in battle said:On the scale of things it was only three points, BUT what it signified was huge, so was this win our greatest victory? Beating them in the semi was huge but this seems to top that, to humiliate the scum in their own back yard takes some beating.
Thoughts please...

until we win the champions league i'd say that will be yes.
