Watford (A) - Post-Match Thread

I still can't see how some think that, with a clinical striker we would be 5/6 nil up at half time...total nonsense, if we had one at the expense of one of our mf's we wouldn't dominate possession quite as much or create quite so many chances.
Having a young 'Messi' in place of one, then maybe, not guaranteed ,his goals in a mostly crap Spanish league would never have been replicated at that level in the PL.

Right?! We can see for ourselves what the great 08/09 treble winning team, with one of the top five players of all time, did. Sometimes they won games 3-1. https://www.skysports.com/barcelona-results/2008-09

I thought everyone played well including Grealish. He will be judged on his numbers though so it is annoying. Had to score that header.

Ref was decent overall I thought. But those two shockers change his performance for me. Disgrace, wtf were var doing aswel.

Not as slick as recent games but in total control.
The potential to score ridiculous amount of goals if only the players had the belief
Sterling useless as usual
It’s a testament to how good we really are
When we have a player who’s only attribute is pace effectively playing with 10 men
Let raz go and sign someone who’s got natural all round ability
Top of the league let’s hope can stay there
Bernardo wow
Lol

Our football is on a different planet to every other team. We are on a par with Pep's great Barcelona side, the only difference is we haven't got a peak goalscoring machine like Messi.

It's not boring it's beautiful to watch. Other teams make some of our games appear boring by timewasting and putting eleven men behind the ball. That's not our fault.

I get why other teams fans would say it though. When your team can't get a kick of the ball ( Can our players though eh you Watford thugs) and are chasing shadows then yes it must be awful for them. Long may their pain continue.

I'm not sure we are quite at the Barca level but if you put peak Messi in our team and dropped the team into La Liga, we would probably look even stronger than we do.

We are the best passing side I have seen in 50 odd years of watching English football. Pep's Barca side, who I did watch an awful lot on TV (most of their games), are the best club side I have seen and Xavi is the best passer of a ball I think I've seen in terms of consistency.

Pep is the guy who would know and there is a reason that he looks so happy and relaxed at the moment, which must have a lot to do with how good he feels his team are.

You are absolutely right that our football is a thing of great beauty and, if any of our games appear boring, that is because the opponents have been driven to adopt a very negative approach.

What I hope for is that our team will do something that makes it nigh on impossible for any reasonable observer to conclude anything other than City have produced the greatest English club side of all time.

My view is that we do need a prolific world class sticker to ice the cake. The right guy would both open the floodgates in games like yesterday's and break through in big, tight games. Getting someone who can reliably score from close and longer range would ease the pressure on the rest of the team and hopefully remove the kind of tension that makes them fluff their lines too often when shooting for goal.
